While your first question may be the most pertinent, you may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant.
Is there a MWAM?
I believe that the creators of the matrix trilogy have purposely left this question unanswered.
Though the process has altered their consciousness, they remain irrevocably human, ergo their creation was obviously fundamentally flawed.
99 percent of all test-subjects accepted the program, concordantly 99 percent of the questions are answered in this trilogy.
The problem is choice, in the first matrix i.e. v1, people had only an aleady chosen path.

As I was saying, the answers are there, for instance the `sight´ aka. `the eyes of the oracle´
In this case they take upon them to answer the question: "what is intuition?"
The oracle "an intuitive program initially designed to investigate certain aspects of the human psyche" those aspects obviously include intuition.
In her investigation she realized the necessity of choice.
"The answer was stumbled upon by another, an intuitive program" The purpose of the oracle is "to unbalance the equation" -a perfectly balanced equation would preclude the possibility of choice, ergo everyone would follow a predicated path, thus no one would accept the program.
Whereas the provision of choice would congregate the necessary compromise and the resulting unbalanced equation.
"We can never see past the choices we don´t understand" ergo `the sight´ involve a profound awareness of the choices we do understand i.e. intuition
"You have the sight now, you are looking at the world without time" ergo looking at the world with time would preclude the awareness of choice. i.e. preclude intuition
"you have already made the choice, now you have to understand it" implies that choices are made in advance, understanding a choice involve knowing the inevitability of its effect i.e. comprehending its consequence. thus choice =path =consequence.
The sight itself is a consequence of comprehending choices including those which are not immediately pertinent.
The function of the oracle is obviously to administrate the awareness of choice, concordantly she encouraged Neo to comprehend as many choices as possible, she explains her motive: "I´m interested in one thing Neo the future, and believe me the only way to get there is together." The machines depend on humans, and Neo depends on the system, -he is partly systemic and Zion depend on the machine-city
"For what its worth you´ve made a believer out of me" She is aware of his attachment to Trinity, thus she realizes that he has chosen to save her, rather than the usual 23 individuals.
"What happens when you go through the door?" Neo does not understand this choice since he remain incognizant of the procedure until the architect explains it.
"an anomaly which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate" one of these efforts would be to confine the key-maker under the supervision of the Merovingian.
Again the coincidental attachment to Trinity is of quintessential significance, since Persephone is aware of this and, -apparently due to her unrequited love, wish to sample the feeling,
thus she offers a transaction whereby the key-maker is surrendered to Neo.
Prior to the sixth incarnation of the one, a solution which compromised the superiority of the machines and a limited salvation of Zion, was the inevitable consequence of combining cause and choice.
In order to advance from the pursuit of his predecessors, the Trinity would have to be completed: cause, choice and...

Whereas a normal inhabitant of the matrix would only be aware of a choice at an almost unconscious level, the oracle has helped Neo establish the sight.
The path of the one is -like any other path in the matrix, an automatic pursuit, which can only be altered through the awareness of choice.
This specific pursuit is part of an equation to which the counterpart is Smith, however before Smith assimilates the eyes of the oracle, Neo -being human, is by far superior, ergo the equation must be balanced, hence the perpetual multiplication.
When Smith attempt to delete Neo obviously only the systemic Neo is deleted, and since the equation must be balanced, Smith himself is deleted to.
"What about the others?" "What others?" "The ones that want out" "Obviously they will be freed"
They are the little over 1 percent of humans in the matrix who wont accept the program.
"I have your word for it?" "what do you think I am? human?"
The architect is not human ergo he has no choice.
