I posted this as a reply in another forum but thought it should be a seperate topic.

All humans wired into the matrix have neural implants.

Neo happens to also have 802.11G wireless technology.

This explains how he could control the sentinals.

Considering free humans "hack" into the matrix by using old phone exchanges (depicted by old style phones in the movie) why not hack into the matrix via wireless.

Also ....

I mean how do the sentinals communicate with the source? I didn't see long cables dangling out there arses did you?

Must be wireless networking. Not hard to understand at all really.

A redundant thread, but since the topic starter used clear words I leave it:

Counter thoughts
1) This theory is a pure theory and not supported by anything within the movies
2) The sentinels need an umbrella to receive signals. Where is Neo's umbrella?
3) Neo throws his hand to destroy them. That hints at telekinesis and at MwM

His hand could be his umbrella

802.11 has a radius transmit receive capability without any aerials. Aerials (umbrellas) can be used to amplify a signal thus being able to acheive greater distances.

Holding his hand out towards the sentinals focussed his transmit signal, thus strengthening it.

He could see code when blind. If he was interfaced (wirelessly) this would explain that.

It's not a stretch to assume they have significantly more advanced wireless capabilities that what we currently have or can even imagine.

Why would an umbrella's even be required in year 2199 (or whatever it was) much less need to be on the outside of a human body. Why not an implant.?

I can't take any more discussions about these movies. Nothing is rock solid. Abosolutely nothing. Which makes discussing it a waste of time and not satisfying, but frustrating.

My hat goes off to those of you, especially the host, who have put so much time in it.

Peace out!

Well they don't need the umbrellas to recive commands I thought (and this is just me) that the umbrella type devices were like the little mic's you see on the sidelines at football games. They pick up faint sounds like talking and things of that nature. (see first movie when the Neb is sitting right in front of a sentinel and it thinks it hears something so it puts out the umbrella decides that it was nothing and moves on.
