in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, on the gigantic cogs we see operating the Docking Bay doors, are the words "Zion Foundation".

is it possible that:
A) Zion is a gift from the machines as some have said?
B) when the Bomb didn't take care of the Machine Menace like we thought it would, that some wealthy bits of Mankind grouped together to make a deep safe haven for Humanity?
C) it's just one of those things that the W Bros threw in for cyber-geeks to theorize about?
D) it was the same wheel twice, and somebody in Zion with a piece of chalk just thought it'd be funny.
