I should probably read through all the new posts in case this is redundant, but I hope someone will notify me if it is... If not...
The Oracle's dangerous plan.
The Oracle hoped to bring an end to the cycles of the matrix. She wanted peace. She knew the way to peace was by breaking the choice of the right door. This could only be done by spesific love, and the hope to save it.
This would have made a serious problem for the machines, but not a problem they weren't ready to handle. The most important thing for the AI is to get rid of the anomaly, which might threaten the system itself. This is done by Reloading or Crashing. The problems of a crash are acceptable.
Smith gained some of Neos powers when he was destroyed, but seems also to gain even more powers when he overwrites other programs. Sati is famous for changing the sky, and after he got her, the skies changed and the rain began. When Smith takes over the Oracle, he is clearly amazed by all he can see.
The Oracle knew that Smith was coming. She could have reatreated to the Source and the matrix would crash. But she stays. She gives him her powers. This makes him able to extend beyond the matrix. This makes him able to threaten the system itself. This makes Neo able to make a deal with the deus ex machina.
The Architect says "You have played a dangerous game...". She replies "Change always is...". She took the chance of destroying both worlds to make the Architect submit to Neo's demand for peace.
Well?

Very true, except I remeber Mero specifically saying in Reloaded after Neo had defeated his coronies on the staircase "I have survived your predecessors, and I will survive you" perhaps not word perfect. But the Matrix has been reloaded each time before with the previous Ones, so thus we must assume that his (ther Mero's) program has not. Also, at the end after Neo's and Smith's battle and the Matrix is reloaded teh Oracle and Seraph have the conversation. If their programs had been reset they would have had no recollection of the events before the Matrix had been reloaded

The reason I feel that everyone tried to stop him is because the Architect is kinda like God in a relation to a Deist belief, meaning he has no control over the Matrix he just lets it sit and watches what happens, plus I think the destruction of Smith in the first film copied over some info, and some info could be the ability to choose, plus smith says that "he was compelled to disobey" "I knew the rules", and in M1 he says he wants to be free, plus the agents are designed to control the 1% of the people who aren't plugged in, they are just serving their PURPOSE as for the Merovingian, he has his own agenda
