"It is done" <----- NEO lives!

After Smith is deleted/killed in the Matrix in REVOLUTIONS, the Machine God's voice booms out:

"It is done!"

Now clearly, the God is speaking to someone at this juncture... right? Neo is the only one around... and if Neo is being spoken to, then NEO cannot be DEAD!

Also, immediately after this dialog, we see the entire Machine City in "golden vision" -- Clearly, it is Neo's eyes who are seeing all this--even more proof that Neo is alive!

Not without conclusive proof... and not after the "Don't give up easily" message of the three movies :--)

I am not emotionally attached to Neo being alive--am just presenting facts.

The end scene where Neo sacrifices his life to save Zion by achieving peace with the machines is a direct representation of Christ's crucifixion. If you notice, after Neo's death when the gold light is spewing from his body, it starts initially in the shape of a cross emanating from his heart. Also, in the Matrix when Smith is destroyed because Neo's body is still plugged into the source, you see a white light in the form of a cross emanating from the prime Smith out to all other Smith's thus destroying them.

Neo's dead body in the real world is placed on the floor on the platform and his figure resembles that of Jesus Christ on the cross and the Machine says 'it is done' which is the last words Christ says on the cross before he dies.

The Matrix explanation is that Smith became too powerful for the Machine world and threatened to destroy it once the program escaped from the Matrix. THe only person to stop Smith was Neo in return for peace between the humans and the machines. As Smith was a direct opposite of Neo (positive and negative) they could not destroy each other - this was exemplified everytime they threw a matching punch and catapulted themselves away from each other (like two magnets being repelled). Neo finally realised (through the Oracles statement that every beginning has and end) that the only way to destroy Smith was to allow Smith's prime program to be uploaded to Neo thus destroying Neo and allowing Smith complete control over the matrix as the unbalanced equation would then be balanced (two halvles become whole). Smith did not realise that Neo was plugged into the source and once his prime program was uploaded to Neo's electronic cadavar, it enabled the source to assimulate the prime program thus resetting the Matrix as the Architect stated it would in his speech at the end of Reloaded.

The theological parody is that Smith was a representation of Adam's original sin (see Genesis) which Neo (Christ) had to die for in order to destroy. Once destroyed, it set human souls free and opened the gates of Heaven to humans (opening the Matrix to allow humans to leave of their own free will).

Deus Ex machine may have told "it is done" to Neo or the Oracle or just himself. Thinking out loud is something all does, even machines who investigated human nature for so long could think out loud.

on the other hand, it could have told this to the Oracle. I know she wasn't there at that time (exactly her BODY was in the crater on the mud) but if the Oracle is the mother of the matrix then she could just hear it since her MIND is connected to the source.

Deus Ex Machina wasn't in the Matrix, so he couldn't have been speaking to the Oracle. While its posisble for Neo to be alive at that point, the only way the Matrix could have been rebooted at the end was for him to have returned to the source and be absorbed in it - something he obviously does as he is carried away and the MAtrix refreshes. So therefore, he's dead.

"God" was speaking to the Oracle. "It is done" merely means that the "equation is balanced". Neo may or may not be alive. The "God" doesn't care, all he cares about is whether his Matrix is safe, and his equation is balanced.

...perhaps the Machine God is addressing all the machines in Zion that Smith had been defeated and that Neo had kept his word therefore, peace had been established and the machines should no longer attack.

So tell me this, if it is seeing through Neo's eyes then how is Neo seeing himself? And if your thinking about the fact that he gives off light at the end there are two possibilites. 1.) it doesn't matter if Neo is glowing. The machines glow and they aren't alive, neither is the machine city. 2.) If you will notice, when Neo exits the ship, he looks down and his feet are black compared to the gold aura that he is walking on. Maybe the fact that he is glowing means just the opposite of what everyone thinks and that it symbolizes that he is dead.

And by the way everyone, ITS NOT CODING. ITS AURA OF THE CITY. IF IT WAS CODING THERE WOULD BE DIGITS, CHARACTERS AND SYMBOLS.

Figure this:
person dies. And nobody else is around someone crys out ''Whhhyy?'' doesnt mean they are alive. (My example is what someone may do in real life)

Anyway 'Neo is doing what be belives he has to do' and then 'It is done' meansing he did what he thought he had to do, which he did, and its over?

I agree and disagree. Obviously Neo is a Christ-figure. But the Matrix is basically an allegory to the Gospels, and a faithful one, I might add.

Jesus is born-Neo is born as Thomas A. Anderson. Jesus works as a carpenter, a common yet important job for the time-Neo works as a software developer for Metacortechs, also a common, yet important job. Jesus dies on the cross-Neo is shot in the hallway. Jesus rises from the dead-Neo rises and sees the code of the Matrix. A little skip in time here, after Jesus's resurrection, his apostles brought people into his religion. Neo and his crew free more minds in 6 months than they have in 6 years. And now the clincher.

Jesus, after returning to his apostles, brings a select few up to the top of a mountain and they see him in a glorious light. The Transfiguration. This is what happens at the end of Revolutions. Neo becomes complete and "ascends." We now await the return of Jesus just as the Oracle and Sati await the return of Neo.
