1) If Neo is a program (as extensively discussed here and in other threads matrix-explained.com..., then how can he be "unplugged" and "freed" into the "real world"?

Is he some sort of hybrid?

2) If Neo "died" when the mainframe/Architect/Source deleted all of the Smith variants, why didn't the Oracle "die", too?

I don't think Neo is a hybrid or a program. Neo, or more accurately Mr. Anderson is a human being, who is being manipulated by the Oracle.

That's a very good question. I have always wondered why does the Oracle never get deleted, considering that she is busy"unbalancing" the equation. Maybe she is just a smart program that "knows" how to re-generate herself. Or could it be that the Oracle was deliberately designed by the Architect himself with the purpose of finding a solution to the recurring anomalies Tripleconfused
