The matrix appears to cyclical - at the end of M3 the The Matrix is rebooted and continues.

but....

The previous and subsequent matrix's may be totally different in design in many ways from the version in which the trilogy is set. They may differ every time depending upon the resultant "balance" between the architect and the oracle - remember the architects quote - "you played a very dangersous game" - possibly meaning that the architect struggled to keep up with the direction the oracle "took" this version.

There may be a door choice like in the architects office in the other matrix's BUT maybe not - maybe things are a little OR even a lot different -

However, one thing would remain the same every time. The escalating probability of the anomoly would lead to the emergence of "the one" in some kind of form - turning over the system and kicking off the next cycle.

So the other versions could show the emegence of the one, discovery of "the truth" and the revolutions in a totally different way/style.

The previous and subsequent matrix's may be totally different from version 6. We may not even recognise them at first as a matrix version!

The architects input would remain the same each time - he simply provides the maths - the "canvas". The Oracle paints the picture and she seems like the medling type to me.

Are there any reasons why this may not be true?

i've been thinking that the earlier versions of the Matrix were in different times of human history. hence, the vampires, werewolves and ghosts...i think that maybe the machines thought that if humans in the Matrix had no access to "technology" then they wouldn't be able to function in the real world if they did become unplugged.

the hovercrafts and APU's and control centers and shit had to come from somewhere...so how long has all this old shit been sitting around until somebody figured out how to use it? Morpheus (i think) said the war had been going on for a hundred years...is that a hundred years with this 6th Matrix? if so, then how long did the others last? hmm...

The first Matrix was a disaster, so it could not have lasted long.As the other versions improved, they lasted longer as the system became more stable in each iteration. The first 5 versions must have lasted 100 years and the last another 100. The first versions must have been simila because they ended the same way: Neo chose the right door
