"The body cannot exist without the mind." In The Matrix as in the 'real world' vis a vis Zion, we are to accept that the humans consist of two things; the body and the mind. It is stated explicitly. If the body dies, the mind goes with it and vice versa.

Can somebody explain to me how the mind and body interact? The mind is, as we are told to believe, an ephemeral non-substant thing i.e. it lacks substance. The mind experiences The Matrix - makes it real. The body has substance, it IS real. How then do they interact with one another? Like a ghost passing through a wall, isn't this problem such?

If you think of dreams you need only be in a sleep like state for your mind and body to interact on another level. In dreams you create people, places, situations to interact without moving. Wouldn't this same principle work?

Ever had a dream where you slip and fall and you kick your feet out to land and suddenly you wake up in bed with your feet kicked out and your heart skips a beat cause you got a rush from supposedly falling. Although it was all a dream.

I used to have that happen all the time.

Whoa.

Like, Deja Vu.

The Mind/Body Relationship is indeed mysterious, and not tackled enough in both science and film.

find the gate and you may walk alone between heaven and earth

Soujiro, these are all examples of the mind and body interacting, not reasons why they do. How and why? Do we even have minds? The Matrix seems to beg the question in one sense as it already assumes that we have a mind.

"The body cannot exist without the mind." - but can the mind exist without the body? Machines and programs have access to some if not all functions of the human brains of those connected/ hard-wried to the Matrix (ie. how the Oracle predicts the future). So is it possible these humans can be downloaded or stored as data?

In a sense it could be like Ghost In The Shell. The "souls" of humans could just be transferred or just transgress from one location or host to another while the old shell remains behind.
