Cypher and Trin in cahoots?

4 days and 11 hours to go, I'm sure your anticipation is matched by your brain ticking over with all these theories that have been posted on this site over the months between Reloaded and now, but here's one to throw a spanner in the works (pretty sure it will lead to nothing but the Matrix wouldn't be the Matrix unless every scene was analysed).
During the very first opening screen of The Matrix (where the green cursor flashes to the sound of a phone ringing) we hear the conversation between Cypher and Trinity talking about Thomas Anderson. Cypher says to Trin that she "likes watching him (Neo)", Trin replies "don't be rediculous" to which Cypher states:
"We're going to kill him, you know that?" (pretty much as a rhetorical question).
The conversation continues with Trin saying Morpheus believes he is the one and Cypher says "Do you?", Trin:
"It doesn't matter what I believe"
Cypher:
"You don't, do you",
Then the conversation gets traced and the scene cuts to Trin in that room before she kills the police officers.

My point is that Cypher seems to be hinting that they have a plan where by Neo dies. Also throughout the movie Trin seems doubtless of Neo's powers although in this scene she is entirely unsure. Maybe they are machine spies, Cypher got careless but Trin kept up the act...?

Well in 4 days were (probably) going to know the answers to all our questions, but you know, if this one proves to be right (although I'm pretty sure it's not) I'm gunna be one smug dude! Wink

I think that when Cypher says: "We're going to kill him, you know that?" he is saying that he doesn't believe in what Morpheus believes (that Neo is the One) and that this belief will only lead to Neo's death (which would have been true if Neo hadn't developed any of the powers that he did).

Also if they knew they were going to unplug Thomas Anderson at that point, they were probably well aware of the risk of doing it to a mind so old. All the other "hopefuls" at the Oracle's apartment are like under 10, Neo's 3x older than most of them. Cypher was the type of person who would assume the worst at every chance I imagine, so as soon as Morpheus made it known who he wanted, Cypher was arguing that he wouldn't live through the procedure.

Yeah, your both right. Was just trying to second guess the suprise twist in revolutions and I figured the more unrealistic the better. Still, if it does happen I'll be a suprised as y'all.
