»Silver Bullets and more theories than you can shake a stick«

I haven't noticed anyone mention the significance of the Silver Bullets on this site. I don;t have any theories as such, but wonder what other people's thoughts are. When Persiphone takes the group into the room with the two men watching a vampire movie, she says about the two men, that her husband keeps them around because they are incredibly difficult to terminate, how many people do you know who keep silver bullets in their gun? Impying that silver bullets are the only way to kill that particular program. Now, with that in mind. Take into account what the Oracle says about "everytime someone sees a ghost or vampires, its the program trying to assimilate something it doesn't understand..." Now, with all that in mind, chew on this, all the bullets that the Merovingian's henchmen fire at Neo are silver. Neo also pulls a silver bullet from trinity. Notice when he pulls it out of her, he pauses with it in his hand briefly in front of the camera as if to say, see this is important. And it could be argued that the bullets Neo stops in mid air in M1 are also silver (but not as blatantly as in M2.
Also, there are so many theories that it gets confusing. But take into account what Morpheus said, what is real? You see, to me whether Neo is man or machine is almost irrelevant. We are ALL machines. Our brain is a computer and the world around us a program. So it's really just one form of machine able to interface with another, and whay not even cross over. If we can enter their world they can enter ours. This is happening more and more each day in OUR world. So consider maybe the brother's will do things in a little more subtle way, and many of our questions won't be answered in as black and white a way we would like. But that's what makes this so much fun!

Werewolves, ghosts and all that jazzes were the result of programs messing around. When you saw a werewolf is was some program messing around that made them popup and look like a werewolf.

I think the point is that the Merv's henchman were all programs that did stuff they were supposed to. The twins are also ghost... so the brothers have stated

Also, Neo turns into silver in M1, the sacred spoon is silver (oh wait there is no spoon), and the car I drive is silver, and the beer I am drinking comes in a silver can...and oh my god my computer case is silver and wow..so is my monitor..OH MY...my freaking cell phone is silver and so is one of the fillings in my mouth...OH MY...I am surrounded by silver!

yeah I too noticed all the bullet were silver a while back, interested me at first, then i guess i decided to put it down to: they might aswel stay loaded with silver bullets because a) mero seems to be of some power over rebel programs in the matrix and silver bullets kill them b) agents have silver bullets so they can off a rebel program if they see one, since they seem not to be on the same team. As for suggesting Neo and the gang might be programs, sounds silly, but maybe when they jack in to the matrix it is intended that they exist as a program when in the matrix, so they have to use silver bullets which can penetrate programs, more than just a bullet and a bit of that gear. Which brings you to wonder what happens if they get shot with a normal bullet. Then again, maybe silver bullets isnt significant at all and are just there because they are cool and the oracle referred to warewolves, who in stories need to be killed with silver bullets.

if you listen to what persephone says she says that THEY (cain & able) are from an older version of the matrix the cause more problems than they solve AND the only reason that Mero keeps them is because THEY ARE EXTREMLY HARD TO KILL. at no point does it say progams can only be killed by silver also i think that the reason there is so much silver is if you watch the matrix Revisited they mention that REFLECTIONS are quite important EG the mirror when Neo leaves the matrix, Morpheuses sunglasses, in M2 when persephone is in the bathroom neo's face is reflected in the mirror.

Great point. I watched Matrix Revisited like 10 times.. i should have thought about that. Especiall when the bullets slow down and reflect images.
