...which very well could mean, that they are controlled by Smith."

I think you misinterpreted that.

The Agent says "He is still only human" right before that. I think Neo's "Hmm. Upgrades." was a sarcastic comeback as if to say "Only human, eh? Watch me kick your ass..."

I think the system has upgraded the Agents, because of the previous Agents failure to stop the One - I mean look at the size of 'em... However Smith is STILL the MAN!!!

I think there was a bit of mild surprise on Neo's part. It appeared to me that he'd become somewhat used to dealing with agents and was only exerting the minimal effort required to defeat them. When one of them actually blocks an attack that Neo might have landed a dozen or more times before, he very well might have been somewhat surprised.

I do not think it has any indication of Smith being involved, however. As someone mentioned in another discussion, all the agents under Smith's power are veritable "clones" of Smith.

While they may be a new version of the agents, they're not really much bigger than the old ones - I think it's mainly the closer in camera angles that give that impression. We didn't see as many head and shoulders angles in Matrix 1, more of the whole body shots.

I think Neo's somewhat teasing the agents in response to their thinking he's "only human". After all, Neo's certainly an upgraded human...

I know for sure that the Agent that fought Morpheus is a body builder - and what a body! He's definately a big boy
But I'd settle for Smith everytime....

I think the upgrade remark is that of surprise, not of sarcasm.

Is anyone else a little disappointed that we didn't see much of the fast movement that occured in M1? Like the bullet dodging or the fast punching performed by the Agents. We only got to see that once when Agent Johnson (I think) was dodging bullets from Morpheus after he ripped off the roof of the Cadilac during the Highway chase in M2.
