Don't miss the religious aspects

Great site! It's nice to see someone dealing with the wide variety of theories out there rather than just latching onto one and defending it against all logic as many people have.
I'm curious as to why you've avoided the religious themes and the more metaphysical theories (for example: Neo stopped the Sentinels because he is the Messiah"). Some of them have been briefly touched on, but certainly not to the extent of others. "Is Neo the Messiah?" is certainly worthy of its own section. I know many people chafe at the religious/emtaphysical approach as "trying to turn science fiction into science fantasy." But plenty of science fiction, particularly that dealing with religious issues (as the Matrix clearly does), features metaphysical elements. Philip K. Dick's "Valis" and "The Divine Invasion" are prominent examples which almost certainly influenced the Wachowskis.
I've seen some coverage of the religious aspect (I like this essay especially:
and have done some of my own (mostly looking at the Messianic aspects). I'll try to gather some of it together and send it to you if you're interested.

Having watched the film quite a few times, I don't see Zion's populace dominated by any particular race; it seems pretty mixed to me.

The religious issues are part of the themes that the films deal with, as important perhaps as the history the films establish.
