I just wanted to let you know that you have a fantastic site, and its given me a lot of insight into the Matrix.
I wanted to leave my own speculation. People say that the original Matrix is a Christ parable, but I think that the Matrix Reloaded and the Matrix Revolutions are two different stories. In my mind, Reloaded is a Buddha parable, about a man who becomes enlightened, but returns to earth to help everyone else, rather than move on to a higher plane.
Sound familiar? Judging from the Revolutions trailer, that movie is based on the Chinese legend of the Monkey King. Here is an excerpt from a story about him:
"Eventually, the heavenly army subdued him, only after many a battle, with the help of all the god warriors. However, all methods of execution failed. Having a bronze head and iron shoulders, the monkey dulled many a sword inflicted upon him. As a last resort, the emperor commanded he be burned in the furnace where his Taoist minister Tai Shang Lao Jun refines his pills of immortality. Instead of killing him, the fire and smoke added to the monkey a pair of firy golden crystal eyes that can see through what people normally can not."
Sound familiar again?
My brother tells me that there’s another part to his tale where the Monkey King claims he can defend the earth better than the Gods can. They take him up on his challenge, and he does well. When the Gods notice this, they remove his eyes to make it harder. As a result, he preserves the world, but it is the crazy world that we inhabit today, and not the paradise it was when the gods were in control. So can we expect a bittersweet ending?
Keep up the good work!
