»The Neverending Story«

Has anyone seen this movie? It is kind of old, I used to watch it as a kid, it's about a boy named Bastian who starts reading a book and eventually ends up inside it blah blah.

Well, today I watched a more modern version of this film, called tales from the neverending story, and guess what I saw in it? The mirror scene from M1 hehe.

The kid put his fingers on the mirror and the surface started to flow, it looked almost exactly as when Neo touches the mirror in M1, it was really cool.

I've never posted on it I don't think, but there are a lot of themes shared between the original Neverending Story and the Matrix Trilogy. The ideas are really similiar. Both films involve a messianic figure, his heroic alter ego, a fantasy and a real world, and a darkness that is consuming everything. The endings are almost perfectly opposite though (so opposite they match). In the end of the Neverending Story, Bastian must create in order to repair Fantasia, in the end of the Trilogy, Neo must be destroyed to repair the Matrix...

Some really kewl comparative analysis could be done with these.
