»The Neo as One or as False One«

On the how many Neos/Ones question. I think the Neos on the monitors in the scence with the Architect were representations (simulations?) of previous "Ones". The TV-Neos were intentionally given the appearance of Neo so that Neo would more likely become convinced that he is merely a product of the system, and is fated to do the same thing the previous Ones did.

(I suspect also that it was done by the movie directors in order to make the idea of a series of functionally similar Ones clearer to the audience and to not introduce new people at a moment when complex ideas were being unfolded)

I think the Architect was honestly surprised by Neo's choice to save Trinity at the cost (as far as we know) of likely condemning all of humanity which would die from a Matrix crash following destruction of Zion with no new Zion to replace it. The Architect was overconfident in his ability to predict Neo's action given those options and the behavior of previous Ones.

I suspect Neo really isn't a One (making the Oracle's first assessment correct). He may instead be a character like the hero of the movie Dark City, a fluke of genetics and the manipulation by the bad guys, a person whose actions will unravel the whole system, not serve as an emergency release valve for the system as the AI’s expect him to.

Neo is certainly carrying the "one" code, and there are many ways to essentially prove it. He's the only one that can beat the Agents. Only the One is able to go through that door the keymaker pointed out. Trinity fell in love with him, and her prophesy was she would fall in love with the one. Additionally, the oracle in Reloaded says to Neo flat out "Because you're the One.". That to me is pretty clear =)

Neo is the one.
