Remove the word, "split" even from your vocabulary, p4th. Don't even eat banana splits, call them tropical fruit sundaes or something. Smile

BTW it seems that the Banana split dessert ( en.wikipedia.org... ) is not popular here, in fact it's the first time that I hear of its existense.

Talking about desserts and Greece--When I lived in Greek Astoria (NY), there was this dessert that I loved and the name of it sounded like "Galactic Burrito" (though, obviously, that wasn't the actual name).

Any ideas what it might have been?

* Hm... how should I spell it in English? *

"Galaktoboureko" which in English can be translated as "milk pie", hey I found a recipe written in English, here --> greek-recipe.com...

Is this what you are looking for?

EDIT

One of my favourites is this: greek-recipe.com... they are served in the Christmas period, they are great.

And this one too: greek-recipe.com...

That's it exactly! Smile I loved that dessert when I lived there. It went well with a cup of coffee (American coffee, that is Wink)

Well, I don't drink any kind of coffee, but when I'm home I like to make Greek/Turkish coffee for my parents if and when they ask for. ( en.wikipedia.org... / greek-recipe.com... )

Err, we should stop or even intell will reconsider and let me split! Whitelaugh

Now that's it's on its own thread, I think this discussion is fair game.

I like Greek/Turkish coffee on its own, but it's a bit too powerful for me to couple with a dessert. We have another friend of the family who attends a Syrian Orthodox church, and they have a big Mid Eastern festival every year with lots of great mediterranean food and wonderful Turkish coffee Aaah, is there anything better than to post here and to drink something

Hehe, you're right and so I've edited the title again, accordingly.

By the way, I liked the recipe links. The milk pie seems especially interesting.

I've never had one! They look really good! Smile

The closest US drink I can think of is the frappucino. en.wikipedia.org... I don't have a recipe link for one, but take a cup of vanilla pudding, a shot of espresso, a glass of milk, and five or six regular ice cubes and blend them in the blender and you'll have one.

There's also Jamocha milkshakes, which are coffee flavored milkshakes. recipezaar.com...

Frappuccino is popular here too. But I don't like coffee, and never drink any kind of it Razz
Neither I smoke or drink alcohol.

Oh well, I rarely drink a glass of red wine.
