»Why Destroy Zion?«

Hi,

I am a new to this forum and I apologise if this question has already been asked or maybe it's just real obvious, I don't know......

In Reloaded Neo asks the archietect "Why am I here?" and he replies "You are here because Zion is about to be destroyed"

The question in my mind is, Why do the machines have to destroy Zion every time the Matrix is reloaded? Is it because Zion's population would become so large that they could overrun the machines? Some one please tell me?!

Another quick point is that I also don't get why the Matrix must be reloaded over and over again, is it because it becomes unstable and needs to be re-stablised by the one re-inserting his code?

Also, why does Neo have to choose individuals to rebuild it? Why does it need rebuilding?

Any suggestions would be cool. Thanks

1) The reloading is pure speculation. There is not much to support it (except early script drafts)
2) Maybe it has to be restarted because humans came close to invent AI again, which would give them too much knowledge about machines.
