After Agent Smith got destroyed by Neo in the end of M1, he decided not to go to Source to get deleted.. Later he started coping himself to other programs and humans, but the original Smith before he coppies himself was he using a host body? Or did he find a way to stand alone? Because I'm sure that the man that hosted Smith by the end of M1 got destroyed.

Yeah...I don't think smith was acting alone..His host must have died..

When I read this post I just got a doubt that Agents are connected to the Source, right?
If they are, then why wasn't Neo dead when he entered into Smith..He should have touched the source and he should be dead!

Apocryphe

I think that the host didn't die because Smith said that a part of Neo has been printed on him, wich means that the Smith we see is not a backup of the AI behind Smith.

I think that Neo embodied the host just like Smith does usually, kicking him out. Once Neo got out, the host woke up and maybe that a part of Smith was still there and that's the Smith who started to rogue (the backup version accepted his deletion).

Neo:"there is no spoon"
Merovingian:"there is no lipstick!"
