I brought this up elsewhere, but I'd be interested in knowing how many people are irked by Smith's line, quoted above, from the final fight scene in "Revolutions"...it's amazing to me that apparently nobody involved in the movie pointed out the mistake....
(Just what was Neo "laying" right there?)

It's in the original Matrix Revolutions script. So, it's not Hugo's mistake.

But what is the mistake? I can't understand Neutral
Can someone help me?

It should be lying. You are laying bricks; however, you are lying down...

I say it refers to Neo as the architect of peace. Smith saw that Neo was laying there the foundation of the new path of peace that was forthcoming, using the cement of brotherhood Wink

Capt. you made a valiant effort to put a purpose to the error.

I believe that the arousal of this topic a merely another pithy attempt for haters to bash the sequels because they can't wrap their closed minds around them.

I hate Revolutions because:

A). The ending didn't make sense
B). My questions were unanswered
C).
...
Now, Z). The grammer was incorrectly used in a line.

Geez, lets use our time to nitpick, that will help us comprehend the meanings and applications.

Neo: "I need time."

Roland: "That figures."

I certainly don't hate any of the films, and believe me, I do not pick nits. To confess, I'm an English teacher, and while I could never write a script that even approached the complexity, dramatic impact and relevance of M1-3, that's what makes this simple error seem all the more incongruous. This is the "Mistakes" board, is it not? I was simply interested in finding out if this usage was as grating to others as it was to me, and if it seemed unusual to anyone that apparently not one person involved with the project objected to it. To me, nitpicking would be pointing out how a character is looking one way in one shot, and in a different direction in the next, or objecting to Morpheus's recognizing the rogue Smith's code....things which have a perfectly reasonable, innocuous rationale.
PS. I resist the urge to correct your spelling. Catch me if you can

Oh, I didn't realize this was a "mistakes" forum. I just usually choose whatever is being discessed at the time. And needless to say I get annoyed when people bring up irrelvant stuff to bash my movies. I may have misunderstood your stance and for that I apologize.

Oh, please don't. If correcting others people's spelling and grammer is something that makes you happy then I will gladly misspell and use commas, incorrectly. I'm a great friend. I always the set-up guy when I'm wing-manning. You won't hurt my feelings and it will probably be entertaining for those that enjoy that sort of thing, so have at it.
