I avoided saying someone's name.

"What is the matrix" is the question of the year. It's an it. Structure(s) of belief.

(CBS) Surgeons implanted an artificial heart into Tom Christerson one year ago and today it's still beating.

The heart has kept the Central City, Ky., resident alive ten times longer than anybody had expected. Christerson is the only survivor of the six who have received the heart in its early trials..

Now,would you call Mr. Tom Christerson he or it?

p.s:Six,I think I have heard of that number before Smile

A machine can't think on its own it has no consciousness, for a machine the matrix is as real as the 'real world'.
Most of the time machines operate within a big hyve simulating somekind or level of 'consciousness'.

As long as an human has his own brain (and soul) and has 'full control' to it I would call it a he or she.

What are you trying to do decipher the matrix or something? Mr. Christerson is obviously a male, unless you know something I don't.

The machines are more like a bunch of frat boys (some take it seriously, some don't). While they may be under "contract" by the oaths they take, they make their own decisions.

Nothing like that.I am just asking do you consider him as a human(he) or a machine(it) because he has an artificial heart implanted in him.

Then is a schyzophrenic still human, since he does not have a full control of his brain ?

The answer to that debate machine/human definition is alreayd known for a long time. The problem is not the answer, it's the question, our brain tries to create categories because its capacity of calculation is limited. Having a category is just software artifice ton conpensate the fact that we can't know everything.

Therefore, every concept following from a categorization is a false truth, a temporary construct due to the limitation of our mind, because the world is not made of categories, it's a whole.

So the answer is : either everything is alive but with a different way of "thinking", either nothing is. Pick up your choice Wink
