Let's hope that Lucas will not film episodes 7,8 and 9 and certainly not 10,11 and 12. (Originally he thought of filming 12 movies!) The story is complete and he should not try to expand it futher.

He won't...but hes given the script to his children...

Its on a Star War's website, which seems to be close to Lucas, along with a quick over view of Episode 7,8,9. (The Fallen Hero, The Republic in Crisis and Victory of the Force)

About how many episodes were intended originally--

George Lucas interviewed July 19th 1979:
"The first script was one of six original stories I had written in the form of two trilogies. After the success of Star Wars I added another trilogy. So now there are nine stories. The original two trilogies were conceived of as six films of which the first film was number four." scifi.about.com...

On the special features for one of the new episodes, I know that he says he considers the new trilogy the (backwards) completion of the story. He's pretty widely stated that he won't make anymore Star Wars (or have anyone else make them).

But there is a television series in the works. And of course, musicians, atheletes, actors are always saying they've retired and then coming back a few years later if for no other reason than that there's still tons of money to be made. So who knows. The next time George needs to buy an island, he might just look to the Star Wars film franchise for financing Whitelaugh

Those plots for 7-9 sound really fanboy (to me) and not like something Lucas would have intended. They're all focussed on Han, Luke, Leia.

But no studio executive in their right mind is going to put sixty year old (and virtually forgotten) Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher on the screen to star in action oriented movies.

I think supershadow is pulling our leg.

The Star Wars saga began with a 14-page treatment for a space adventure movie that Lucas drafted in 1973, inspired by multiple myths and classical narratives. According to one source, Lucas initially wrote summaries for fifteen stories that would make up the Star Wars saga. Out of these fifteen stories, Lucas originally planned to film only one of them as a feature film. Then, in 1978, following the success of the first released Star Wars film, he publicly announced that he would create a total of twelve films to chronicle the adventures of Luke Skywalker (in the original scripts, the character’s name was Luke Starkiller). In 1979, Lucas retracted his former statement, saying that he would instead make nine films. Four years later, having completed Return of the Jedi, Lucas announced that he was putting Star Wars on indefinite hold until special-effects technology had improved to his satisfaction. Finally, in 1995, (after seeing the effects results of ILM's work on Jurassic Park) Lucas decided that he would produce the trilogy of prequels (Episodes I, II, and III), for a total of six films. He also claimed at the time that he had always envisioned "the whole thing as a series of six films".

[...]

For his part, Lucas claimed in a segment filmed for the THX-remastered VHS release of the original trilogy that the original Star Wars story was intended as a single film but was later split into three because the story was too long to be told in a single film. In the DVD commentaries for the original trilogy, Lucas claims that many story elements were changed within the production of the films — for instance, the attack on the Death Star in A New Hope was moved from the end of the trilogy in order to strengthen A New Hope on its own merits, while the character of Chewbacca established the Wookiees as a technologically advanced race, necessitating their replacement with Ewoks in Return of the Jedi. Other changes, including the death of Obi-Wan in A New Hope, were made during the filming. Lucas also stated in the commentaries that the prequel stories existed only as "notes" explaining the backstories of characters such as Obi-Wan. In an interview with Wired prior to the release of The Phantom Menace, Lucas remarked that he had allowed the publication of novels written as sequels to the films (see Expanded Universe) because he would never make the sequels himself.

Lucas's history of different statements regarding his future and past plans for the Star Wars saga have caused a great deal of popular confusion, while drawing criticism from some. For example, some still believe that Lucas's original plan was for a "trilogy of trilogies," based on early statements made by Lucasfilm regarding sequels.

[...]

After the initial success of Star Wars, a sequel was inevitable, but over time, conflicting reports spread as to how many sequels were planned. In 1978, a Time magazine article reported that the newly formed Star Wars Corp. would be producing "Star Wars II, and then, count them, ten other planned sequels."

In 1979, director George Lucas said in an interview on the set of The Empire Strikes Back, "The first script was one of six original stories I had written in the form of two trilogies. After the success of Star Wars, I added another trilogy. So now there are nine stories. The original two trilogies were conceived of as six films of which the first film was number four." Lucas backed this up with a 1980 interview with the L.A. Reader, stating "Star Wars is really three trilogies, nine films... it won't be finished for probably another 20 years."

[...]

In a 2004 interview, Mark Hamill said that Lucas told him that he planned to produce this trilogy around 2011, and asked him to return for cameo appearances as an Obi-Wan type character who passes on the torch to the next generation in Episode IX then, and that the sequels would feature new characters. Lucas dismissed the comment as "off-hand".

[...]

Currently, there are no firm plans to produce these films. Lucasfilm's stance is that the six Star Wars films comprise the entire story Lucas intended to tell, despite mentions to the contrary in the press and official publications over time.

In a 1997 issue of the Star Wars Insider, Lucas said "[The whole story has] six episodes....If I ever went beyond that, it would be something that was made up. I really don't have any notion other than 'Gee, it would be interesting to do Luke Skywalker later on.' It wouldn't be part of the main story, but a sequel to this thing."

In a 1999 interview with Vanity Fair, Lucas denied ever having any plans to make nine Star Wars movies. "When you see it in six parts, you'll understand," Lucas said at the time. "It really ends at part six." When asked about the possibility of someone else taking over the film franchise, Lucas said "Probably not, it's my thing."

After finishing Revenge of the Sith, Lucas restated on several occasions that he had no plans of making another Star Wars film trilogy. However, Lucas has been known to say one thing and do another in the past, so, many fans still hope that he may pass the project to someone else while controlling it behind the scenes, or that he may reconsider and produce another set of films after more time has passed, probably relying on further leaps in computer technology. Given the popularity and financial success of the films and the overall franchise, it is possible that Lucas, his heirs, or his businesses may find the possibilities of further movies too lucrative to resist.

Wow, that's a ton of info th3 p4th! Thanks Smile

I've often questioned whether Lucas really had it as mapped out as he sometimes claims. The wiki article seems to confirm that he didn't.

Heh Mark Hamill hasn't been forgotten. He's a pretty diverse voice actor if you look into it, he's even in Metalocalypse. I'd go as far as saying Mark Hamill went on to do the coolest things after Star Wars then any other of the cast, even if no one realises its him.

And Supershadows been debunked a lot of times. It's just a big scam of a website.

sorta makes it out to be pretty shifty aswell.

In issue #90 (Nov-Dec 2006) of the Star Wars Insider, Lucasfilm's Pablo Hidalgo stated in response to a question about SuperShadow:

"The site, and the person who runs it, have absolutely no relationship with Lucasfilm or George Lucas. The person who runs it has never met nor talked to George Lucas. So-called information, "scoops", and interviews on the site are complete fabrications. Lucasfilm has taken action against the site several times when it has attempted to solicit fans' money under false pretenses."

That's why I said "virtually" forgotten. Plenty of people love the Joker from the 90s Batman cartoon, but not that many know it's Hamill, ya' know?

OTTAWA — Canadians are bracing themselves for a bad news budget from Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government and are firmly opposed to the Tories' plan to slash the public nike-air-jordan.org... pension system for future senior citizens, a new poll has found.

The national survey by Ipsos Reid nike-air-max-pascher.org..., conducted for Postmedia News and Global TV, suggests that while Canadians are ready for a March 29 austerity budget that slashes government spending to reduce the deficit, the public has not yet accepted Harper's argument for why the pension system needs to be cut.

The poll found that 49 per cent of Canadians are preparing for a "bad news" budget from federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty and that 57 per cent do not "trust" Harper and the Conservatives to make the "right choices" to ensure the budget is "fair and reasonable nike-air-max-pascher.net...."

As well nike-air-max90.net..., more than two-thirds of Canadians oppose the view that the country needs to "sacrifice" pensions to keep taxes down or increase the retirement age to control rising pension system costs.

"If he moves on pensions, it's going to get nasty," Ipsos Reid president Darrell Bricker said in an interview Friday.

Bricker said it's clear the government has "conditioned" the public for a tough budget and that Canadians won't be expecting tax cuts or a message of "sunshine and celebration" from Flaherty air-max-soldes.net....

But it has failed to prepare the public for the political time bomb — on pension cutbacks — that seems ready to explode.

"To the extent that there is going to be a controversial and difficult part of this budget that could get the government in some real difficulty acheternikechaussures.org..., it would be around this issue. It's because they have not made the case."
