Is It Safe To Assume That Everyone On This Forum Likes Rock? This Assumption Is Made Of Course On The Bases Of The Music Of The Matrix.

(Admins, can u make this a poll, i tried but didn't have Proper Clearence)

Sparks:"I know you don't care about your lives. But please try to think of something of meaning, like my life."

Yes Rock music is nice, but I don't like every rock song!
What I really like are the tracks that Don Davis has composed for the Matrix Trilogy + Animatrix + Enter the Matrix + The Matrix: Path of Neo!

(I already sent a PM to knn with your suggestion to create a poll.)

Is Pink Floyd Rock?

Is Fleetwood Mac Rock?

I think Beethoven Rocks.

Now that you mention it I think I could use a Fifth of Beethoven.
I haven't played it in a while.

Maybe 5% of Rap noise is listenable. Possibly 25% of Rock is worth listening to.

But you must consider the source. I'm over 45.

I was around when they started saying don't trust anybody over 30.

Now it's more like are these people under 30 for real?

Exactly. Now that's a rule of thumb.

As to the Rock vs Rap thing...hmm. Gosh, I thought they stopped that nonsense back in '88.

Asking someone to compare the 2 art forms is like asking someone "which is better, a barbecue grill or a blender?" Nono

This clearly would have to come down to the quality and content of the one who's doing the rapping or the rocking. There is a lot of crap in both categories.

I like both, by the way, but it depends on the skill and consciousness of the performer and the originality manifest in the track/song.

And this should probably go into "chit chat" for I don't see a remote connection to the matrix. But that's just imo.

It was there but then I moved it here because Tsukasa was asking for a poll. But a poll mwith only 2 options is not an interesting poll and now the whole topic is matrix UNrelated so it goes to the Redunant section.

ok, sry i was just wondering

as for me, i'm 17, but my grandfather was a morning DJ for 1520AM, so i know more oldies songs and classic rock (from my dad) than this new age stuff...but i still like the new stuff. (SORRY!, if u live on the east coast of the US it KB 1520. It's An Oldies Station, i never remember to think about other locations, but...i'm too lazy to edit the post)

Don't forget all the electronic music in the movies Smile
and btw isn't it a bit hard to generalise people's music taste based on a movie?
for example i am a great fan of trance and dance music. Smile

You can't generalize by just saying "Rock." There's tons of sub-genres inside that category. That's like saying that Classic Rock is the same as Heavy Metal. The same with Rap.

Maybe, but I see where tsukasa is coming from. All sub-categories aside, there is a commonality, which is why there are SUB categories. So you could give an overview of the main category.

Not really. That's the reason behind the OP.

Just to clarify my view of all this...While I don't think you can compare the two things he was comparing, I am still interested in an open discussion of each. And both of these art forms have changed over the years so it could get pretty interesting.

Well you (used to) have:

Rap that concentrated on consious messages
Like KRS-One, Public Enemy, Digable Planets

Rap that emphasized lyrical skill
Like Rakim

Rap that was afrocentric
Like X-Clan, Poor Righteous Teachers

Rap that was more street-oriented
Like N.W.A. or Just-Ice

Rap that was just original and fun
Like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, or Will Smith

Now most of it (in the US) has just become one-dimensional, materialistic, perverted, pretentiously hard-imaged, shallow, and devoid of any lasting cultural contribution, represented by people who seem to have little grasp of the English language. But this was not always the case.

Rock has remained pretty much what it is and not "selling out" just to get popular if it means forsaking the art. And for that I respect them. I like alot of the alternative sounds and some of the older stuff as well.

Told ya!

Although fans of other groups support that Low Bap IS Hip Hop and not a variation of it, thus there is nothing special to it. But anyway it sounds cool

My favourite group is FF.C (FortiFied Concept), in 1987 they were the first that introduced the rap genre in Greece. They are professionals, well respected by all the other groups and nobody "attacks" them. Respect Thumbup

Their site is: ffc.gr... but is currently under constuction. And it's only in Greek, sorry.

But I uploaded 3 of their songs for you (they come from their older albums), to get only taste of their work. Enjoy Aaah, is there anything better than to post here and to drink something

Links removed! Cool

The lyrics are in Greek, so if you don't like them..I'm sorry Aaah, is there anything better than to post here and to drink something
