Questions about the Architect scene in Reloaded

Hey, my first post!

First of all why did the Architect tell Neo so much information about the Matrix and it's history?

What did he mean by "There are levels of survival we are prepared to accept"? If they don't have the sun or humans, what can they possibly use?

Why does the Architect reside inside the Matrix and why didn't Neo just kill him?
