[Matrix Reloaded]
Morpheus: "Tonight let us shake this cave! Tonight let us tremble these halls of earth, steel, and stone! Let us be heard from red core to black sky. Tonight, let us make them remember. This is Zion! And we are not afraid!"

Some scenes from Sec Ren, the Matrix Reloaded and the Matrix Revolutions remind me scenes from the Final Fantasy movie.

Here are some examples.

I think it's a very intriguing set of similarities, especially considering that the Final Fantasy film and some of the games in the series were based on a philosophy of a singular Source of life, the universe, and everything as well as a cyclical model of the universe. However, I think it is probably coincidence. Even if it did influence those scenes in particular, the amount of influence that the visuals of the Final Fantasy film would have had on the Matrix trilogy would be very small in comparison to some other works, like Ghost in the Shell, for instance.
Sorry to sound so negative. The thread is a very interesting speculation, and I'd like to hear your thoughts on my thoughts.

I don't know what to say but "good catch!"

You think the W's "borrowed" from this as well? Because it looks that way to me.

Larry, you got some 'splaining to do!

I'm not sure if the Wachowskis borrowed anything from Final Fantasy..

What I know for sure is that the studio that did all the CG work for (Final F)antasy also worked on (Final F)light of the Osiris. Also from wikipedia:

"The English language version of The Animatrix was directed by Jack Fletcher who has brought the voice actors who provided the voices for the English version of Square Enix's Final Fantasy X, who are Matt McKenzie, James Arnold Taylor, John DiMaggio, Tara Strong and Hedy Burress. The English version also features the voices of Victor Williams (TV's The King of Queens), Melinda Clarke (TV's The O.C.)."

Other similarities that I've found:

Pay no attention to the greek subtitles- I couldn't remove them because they were "burned" with the video at the SVCD copy of Final Fantasy that I have.

I'd like to hear what you think!

P.s Maybe later I'll post some images from Ghost in the Shell, Nous!

Damn good catch! Cool

Why didn't I notice all of this? Maybe I was pre-occupied with the horribleness of The Spirits Within.
