I read somewhere that the brothers had the thought of replacing her from the beggining because their script required it. But they loved the way she acted at M1 so they changed their minds and kept her. But unfortunately Gloria died.. so they used again their first idea of replacing her.

I think that these info can be found at the production info of M3.
