From the theatrical release of Revolutions:

From the DVD:

Spotted the difference? The machine that is carrying Neo's body has red "eyes" at the thetrical release but at the DVD has green. Also some other lights at the background have changed from red to green.

Why would the Wachowski Brothers change that? I thought that they are very precice at their work and never change anything.. One theory is that they did that having in mind the "Matriculated" episode of Animatrix where the machines that would help man had green eyes.Maybe that they are friendly?

Also notice that the colours seem much different. At the first pics it's grey and metal colour while at these from the DVD there's lot of blue.

At the Matrix Trilogy:
Blue=Body

Does the colour change have any significance? Any ideas?

If you look at the trailers of the movies, especially the first, you can see that they are different to what is actually shown. The most obvious difference is the use of colour. There isn't as much green.

Also, Zion is shown in a Reloaded trailer as not being blue. This suggests that the colour symbolism is an afterthought...

Yeah but how can you explain that they changed the red colour to green? I am sure that it was red when I saw it at cinema..

I don't know. My guess is that its just part of the editing they did. Most likely rendering the quality of the film to give it more color and contrast. Maybe after it was changed things appeared a bit different.

Like on the last image of the two:

I can kinda see a bit green on the top right and red on the bottom left

Click and double-click to resize image

Here I see the green again on the top right and red on the bottom left:

Click and double-click to resize image

I think it just has to do with the contrast/color balance done to the DVD for better quality.

Was it originally intended for it to look green? I think not because the Machines are still looking at Zion as the enemy or a threat of some sort.

I noticed this when I first got the DVD, and yeah, they're using the idea in Matriculated to show how the machine world has changed.

This change in the machines was always there, but maybe the Brothers suddenly thought "hey, wouldn't it be cool if we represented the machines' change using that gimmick from Matriculated?".

No, that's just because the shots used in the trailers hadn't yet been processed.

The blue vs. green dualism is set up in the first movie, anyway, so it renders the idea of it being an "afterthought" kind of moot.

You can't show blood in trailers, so they had to mess with the shot of Bane used in the Revolutions trailer.

Yes that's exectly my thoughts but I wanted to hear others too.
What about the grey colour changed to blue? I have no answer to that. Or maybe it was already blue at the cinema (although I doubt it) and these screenshots come from a pre-edited version of the film..

I think that it wasn't already rated.I can check it later if I find the trailer at one of my backup CDs/DVDs..

I couldn't say. All I know is that I've seen far too many trailers that have things different to the actual movies to be bothered to go back and analyse what was different in the trailers.

Trailers to be put on the internet all have to have that green banner to say that the preview in question is suitable for all audiences. The only way a trailer can get that is if the shots used are completely suitable for everyone. Of course, in the case of R-rated movies, there are stringent limits on what can be shown...and showing a man's face covered in blood is something that you'd be hard pressed to get into a trailer designed for general viewing.

This brings up an interesting side point:

What do you think is the purpose of a trailer that is made for all audiences to a movie that is rated R?

Sometimes, you do get trailers that are R-rated. But they will be restricted to being shown in front of other R-rated movies.

Imagine you taking your kid brother to see...I dunno...Shrek 5 or something. The trailers before the movie can't be R-rated, but the movie advertisers want to appeal to adults like yourself who are in the audience who are old enough to see their movie. So we have G-rated trailers.

It's also because having R-rated content on sites like apple.com (i.e. sites that host trailers) will decrease their viewing demographic.

I think that the latest versions is cannon. They were in a hurry when they made Revolutions, maybe that some details were lost in the urge.
