Something Trinity says...

I have not thought or read about the Matrix films for a long time. Last night i decided to watch all three, one after another to see if my previous understanding and perception of the films was affected.

One thing that stuck with me after Revolutions had finished, was a line Trinity said near the beginning of Matrix 1. It was when Neo considered getting out of the car when Switch said its our way or the highway. Trinity asked Neo to stay and then went on to say....

Quote:

Trinity : Because you have been down there, Neo. You know that road.

You know exactly where it ends. And I know that's not where

you want to be....

I dont know about anyone else but to me that road looked just like the road Neo and Smith have their final battle. It was raining hard and the way he looked down there seemed to suggest he knew what she meant.

I suppose what i am suggesting is this is the first hint at previous "One's"....and that Trinity knows the outcome of what happened to the previous One's.

Its almost as if by making him stay in the car she has restarted the journey of The One. By Neo choosing to stay in the car and trust Trinity he has now started to make the journey that each of the previous One's have taken and that journey ends right where it began down that road fighting Smith to save Zion.

Just my thoughts, as a newb i dont know if its been mentioned before. Sorry if it has Smile

No, I don't agree. Watch that scene again and then check out that road:

- empty
- dark
- cold
- wet

It visualizes Neo's future if chooses to exit now. Loneliness, darkness, despair, uncertainty, not belonging to someone or somewhere, probing questions that are unanswered... lost.

Neo had been "down there"... he knows that kind of life... and where it might end.

Well Droo, i'm not sure if it's been mentioned already or not - bu tthat's a good idea. I can't see it exactly in my head (you can bet i'll check it out tonight though) but from what i can see it could be similar and what an implication it would have. Logisically though, trinity doesn't know what the hell the One experiences (remember she's already dead when Neo has his fight) let alone that this is yet another verison/sequel of the Matrix - she doesn't learn about the Prophecy system of control until end of reloaded. PLUS, from the information we get and what the Oracle and Architect spoke about atthe end - what happened in this version was NOT planned meaning it's different from the previous versions - where the ONE chooses the left door.

Great idea though like i said - that's using your Matrix brain.

Scar - i like what you said too! right on the money - i beleive your take is what was intended - to persuade NEO. He literally knows where this road leads and doesn't know where he's going with these Redpills. He figuratively realizes that the road leads to more of the same in his life where seeing Morpheus brings the Hope of a Eureka or realization moment/ the truth.

Everything that starts in simplicity must grow in simplicity.
