»Vampires?«

Hello guys,recently i have noticed something strange in the M2...i think that Merovigian has under his ''protection'' vampires..?
You see,this suspicion came to my mind as i was playing the path of neo and enter the matix video games.There is more,Persephone said that these ''protected'' programms are being killed with a silver bullet....Ok what is going on here?

I'd always figured that was because they were leftovers from the second failed Matrix. If I'm not mistaken, the Matrix Online game verified that the second failed Matrix (fully equipped with the grotesqueries of humanity and all that jazz) was a hellish version of the Middle Ages, complete with vampires and werewolves.

But what's your take on it, Cap? You've got lots of grail knowledge, so let's hear your explanation of the connection.

In a literal sense you've hit the nail on the head about the vampires being left over from the Dark Age Matrix.

What interests me though is the reason for coupling the imagery. Why combine Merv with vampires?

In the Matrix-verse, the Grail seems to be the emerald that fell from Satan's crown during the war between God and the fallen. However, vampires lend themselves well to the more modern traditional view of the Grail.

Vampires are immortal blood drinkers. The modern view of the Grail is as the cup that caught Christ's blood at his crucifixion and grants immortality to those who drink from it. Obviously you can see how those two ideas could go together (vampires-cup of Christ)

Since the cup of Christ doesn't seem to be the Grail that the Wachowski's are working with, why couple it with the emerald myth? I don't have an answer, just think it's an interesting thought.

Anybody else have ideas?

Ever since I heard your Matrix-as-emerald-grail theory, I've really liked it. I'd also like to hear intell's opinions on the Merovingian's role as grail protector since I see that he's been trying to steer people into thinking about it. That was a hint, intell.

But even though there were programs who were undoubtedly created to be vampires, I also wonder about the Oracle's statement that these sort of phenomena result from programs who aren't doing what they're supposed to. So it seems that some programs are vampires because they're supposed to be, and some are vampires because they're NOT supposed to be.

Oh you mean this:

ok lets say they are vampires andthey are in a way connected with the french.The question which arises is why they didn't attempt to bite Neo or make some of their tricks....There is more,Why the directors chose not to clearly expose the fact that there are vampires in the matrix and opted to ''hide'' them in a clever way....?
