Discussing our matrix

I started this thread to discuss things in our world that
are like the matrix. Lets forget about the machines as in the wachowski matrix, and concentrate on our world. In our present reality we cant be sure of machines, I believe that they are here as a reflection of people.

The machines made a home in mesop and they currency
flourish. Who else has made a home in the same place and
their currency oil flourish.

I think our matrix is about the battle between those who like using tools and those who dont because of God.

Anyway this is just the start, lets see where this goes

Fate, or rather 'what goes around comes around' seems to happen rather inexplicitly.

Also, magic, and great skills and powers that some people posess. Think of martial arts, and some forms of working magick - how? Simply training and strenghtening of the mind? Or unwittingly beaking barriers with belief and concentration?

Everything is a Matrix (or hegemony) in its way. There's a quote from What the Bl**p Do We Know? that says "The brain can not tell the difference between what it sees and what it experiences..." meaning that the brain "sees" events on television, in films, etc. just as it does events in real life. Therefore we are inundated with realities on a daily basis that are completely fictional just by turning on the TV!

I love that movie. I've only seen it once, but the first thing I thought when it was over was that I need to make sure that I watch it every once in a while to remind me about the power of the mind. Seeing the connection between perceptions of the mind and the resulting reactions of the body were simply amazing. You are what you think, it would seem.

It's a pretty kewl flick, isn't it? I think it makes a great companion to the Matrix. Of course, you have to take a lot of it with a grain of salt, but it's still got some great ideas.

They're coming out with a super extended special edition in August that will have all sorts of branching options (where when you're watching a scene and someone mentions particle physics versus quantum physics an icon will appear that you can click and watch a short more in-depth segment on particle physics versus quantum physics). I'm looking forward to checking that out!

It definitely has a lot to say about our Matrix of a world too. That idea that we are neurologically addicted to our emotions is a very compelling one in terms of the Matrix-verse. 'Cause if we're that addicted to what's happening in our brains, how must those same energies pumping through the machines affect them?

I didn't know about that, but I looked it up just now on Amazon, and here's the link:

Notice how this is the "Down the Rabbit Hole" version. Heh heh.

I look forward to the August edition too, now that I just heard about it.

Things in the movie like our world. Well, there are outright references and images like:

Old ladies in the park or apartments that you wonder about what they could tell you if you stop and talk to them.

People who you hear about from time to time who keep a low profile and could be dangerous, and are known to offer pills to people and manage to elude the authorities for years.

Men in black.

Reports of "missing time".

Sightings of 'ghosts, aliens, werewolves, vampires, and angels'.

Additionally alot of how the world works is revealed in the matrix through more subtle inferences like certain segments of dialogue or the intents and actions of certain characters.

The words of the Architect and the Merovingian reveal quite a bit. Wink

Hm.. It's the first time I hear of this movie. What is it exactly? I read some things on wikipedia but I'm not sure I understood the plot - if there's any. Rottentomatoes rated the movie only 34%
