I'm aware of Seraph's history with Merv, but I guess not entirely with the Oracle. She says years -- are years measured differently within the matrix? Or has he been protecting her for a longer time than just in the 6th iteration? Why would he protect her then, had she begun her gamble before the 6th reloading?

Thoughts on this one, if you please.

Seraph and the Merovigian are each others yin and yang I think.

They both guard the way to the Grail.

The Merovingian protects the Grail with evil interest: he doesn't want anyboy to achieve/reach it. He keeps them running around in cause-and-effect-chains which is equal to having power.

I think that Seraph helped the Merovingian with this, but later on he 'enlightened' himself and realized that he should not decline the Grail to everybody. Instead he 'selects' the people who are appropiate for attaining the Grail. As the Oracle is an important key towards the Grail, he is tied to her.

{Micro}, the merovingians were a race of frenchmen in the 6th century who believed they descended directly from Jesus Christ ("graal" is Hebrew for blood, not chalise (and no, I'm not getting my facts from The Da Vinci Code)). They exalted themselves in this belief, and it is said to have kept many of his secrets hidden from the world (excepting the Knights Templar -- no parallels to them that I see connected to Merv in the show).

Seraph, meanwhile, obviously comes from the Hebrew word "Seraphim", mentioned in the poignant Isaiah 6:2 -- "Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly." Seraph, as Mobil mentioned, used to work for Merv, but "defected" to work for the Oracle.

Why he had wings while working for Satan, as it were, I don't know. And why gold code? That's the only time we see Neo seeing gold code while jacked in. Is Seraph an exile from the machine world, like Sati (I think of that because Neo sees Zero-One and the machines there in gold code).

More thoughts -- I know this has all been discussed in the past, but I don't care -- I wasn't there.
