Question my take on the matrix. Exclamation

greetings everyone, my name is frater nothing. i have just finished watching the matrix reloaded. nice film.

my view of the matrix is that it contains archetypes of world philosophy. nietzshe and 'will to power' is a definite theme, but so also is transcendentalism, gnosticism, esoteric judaism and christianity.

but mostly, i see it as a postmodern thelemic reworking of mythological themes.

the architect is a sort of jehovah 'ancient of days' figure, who in the gnostic system is seen as an emmenation of the source 'The Unknown God'. jehovah then created the matrix as a system of duality wherein he exerted control. but, of course, there was the problem of freewill inherent in the system of all finite projections (programs) of the Source.

Neo is the New Man (the overman of Nietzsche), Morpheus is the transcendental gnostic, and Trinity is the Feminine type--the material source upon which Neo's energy of love and will are directed.

The Archetect gives Neo a choice of either the right or left hand path. And of course, he takes the left hand path even though he knows it means certain death--just like men take the left hand path against the control of Jehovah even though they know it means certain death.

So, really, the Matrix can be seen as a postmodern occult film couched in the magick of glamour. It's about Man becoming God and in control of his own free will.

In short, it's Thelemic religion 101

I know, I am the anomaly in the system--The One.

This should keep you busy 'till you get a reply;

directory.google.com...

Always a good idea to examine a religion from several viewpoints.

After all would you consider Christianity based on the way that some Christians behave? Twisted Evil

(Sorry, I have a lot of angst againt the "faith" I was born into. So much so that I wished for the creation of "Born Again Lions" Evil or Very Mad )

i personally despise what the catholic church stands for... they are hypocritical, and are a religion that is doomed to fade into obscurity due to the fact that it cannot adapt to the modern world. Hardly anyone outside the clergy really follows the rules of no premarital sex, and no recreational sex... after all... to deny our own inpulses, is to deny the only thing that makes us human... any religion that's poster child seems to be Micael Jackson has some issues to work out... and rape should be punishable by death... thats my religion... who wants to join!

I started to read a bit more into this Thelemic stuff - Alistair Crowley - Hmmmm....I'm not really sure what to make of it... Confused
There is some stuff in there that makes for some interesting reading, then there are some real dodgy things... Sad
You can view what he has to say in many ways - but like everything else there seems to be something included in the writings that will catch your eye.. and keep you reading....

I find most of the sites people put up on this forum are "dodgy" at best. Especially the cultic or Buddhist ones.

If you're interested in a little thought-provoking reading, try these...

Wow, got to step 3 and realised this was also written by "propaganda-spewing robots who care only about the message" Wink

How can the phrase "stands as a beacon to defend freedom throughout the world" not be seen as purely propoganda.

Then I got to Steps 5 and 6 Screwy and decided to check out your other link instead:-

Boy could I ask him some better questions Very Happy

If you want thought provoking, why not follow the path that Keanu was pushed down before making the matrix; -

If you found something wrong with the site... say what it is... but don't just close your mind like every other America-hating liberal.

What was wrong with points 5 and 6? Do you like communism?

So funny how people always hate the truth, especially when spoken so frankly.

And labelling people in this way is not closed minded?

I dislike spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk..., Do you even know what Communism is?

I thought the idea was to provoke thought, not indoctrinate.

OK if you're so into "truth", let's see if you know what the truth is.

What was on the tree that Adam wasn't supposed to eat, and why wasn't he supposed to eat it?

lol... I wasn't talking to you... but ok... get mad again for no reason. I was talking marl64 who just claimed it to be propaganda. You made no such claim. He is the one who expressed that he disagreed with points 5 and 6 which deal with communism... not you.

You obviously didn't like it either. Why not? Or do you have no reasons?

Since you can mention nothing wrong in the site, you must claim that they are just pushing propaganda.

marl64 wrote:

labelling liberals based on actions and beliefs is in no way being closed-minded.

marl64 wrote:

And I dislike socialism. True Marxist communism has never been fully implemented and probably won't be because of its inherant flaws.

The fundamental flaw in both socialism and communism is that they don't take into account the true nature of man. People will not work for the benefit of society. People will only work hard for their own benefit. This is the main principle behind capatalism and is why it works so well.

What you think you know about the story of Adam and Eve based on cliches and metaphors is irrelevant. The metaphor of the forbidden fruit meaning "sex" and other notions have no bearing on the story since they came about much after the Old Testament was written. I admit to not being an Old Testament scholar, and you should too. Could the story be a mere metaphorical representation of what happened? Possibly. However, I'm not going to assume so until I study the Hebrew language (after finishing Greek) and look at the style in which Genesis was written. The point is what matters. It is that Adam rejected God and brought death upon the earth.

One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.

Alistar Crowley! ROTFL

But Magick in Theory and Practice is a good laugh filled read. I have an extra copy I'd sell if anybody wants it.

My 7 year old just drew a pentagram, and I didn't see him draw it. Did he invoke or Banish, and what point did he start from? ADNI, AHIH, AGLA, ALHIM, AL, IHVH.

I fear the universe may fold in upon itself if I don't find this out quickly.

The only thing faster than the speed of light is the speed of dark.

Because no matter how fast light goes, darkness is always there before it.

Quite so.

I've known a few kaos magicians and O.T.O. members who all seemed to be quite "together" in their personal lives, so the creed by which they lived was doing them some good.

It's e=mc squared. e=energy, m=mass, and c is a constant, the speed of light in a vacuum. Dark, as in dark matter, or dark, as in absense of energy visible and non-visable? All of the universe contains energy, in various forms. Magnetic, photonic, phonons and polaritons, quanta, temporal, etc.

Lets get away from these older physocal universe concepts.

Anyone want to discuss topology or non-eucledian geometry? How about Kaluza-Klein compact extra dimensions detection.

The real cutting edge physics are more outlandish than Knights Templar, The Golden Dawn, and all the rest. ;p

Well... thank you oh enlightened one. I think everyone knows what e=mc^2 stands for. Obviously you didn't get my sarcastic joke, but whatever. Before you can claim to not buy into Euclidian geometry frist prove an understanding of it. Einstein was a smart dude... yet he failed math in high school. He had an idea about the relativity of the universe which included that time was flexible and the only constant is the speed of light. If you want to hear my views on Einsteins relativity theory, or at least what I have read of it, I'll be glad to share. However, don't be so quick to dismiss euclidian geometry and other things which you don't understand for no other reason than to sound smart.
