»Why do machines need humans?«

I know this sounds like a stupid topic but I was just wondering... why can't machines just make big towers to go beyond the Dark Sky?

Neo and Trinity easily pulled it off on the Logos... couldnt machines possibly make longer towers or something? It would save them a lot of hassle...

the machines would just turn off as soon as they reach the sky watch m3 the sentinals fall off turned off, the neb turns off and the momentum takes them through. so any machine would just not work

You can't tell what altitude they went to. It might have been 10 or 15 thousand feet. We haven't built any 2 thousand foot buildings yet. Then they would have to support solar panels. Panels having large surface areas could have a lot of wind resistance and therfore need very strong towers. Not a simple engineering problem.

Also:

It would seem to make sense from all the conversations in the movies that they feel there is a lot to learn from humans.

One other question... how were the humans planning on getting rid of the Dark Sky? Why wouldn't the machines do it?

People often don't give (assuming they have) information out that could help the "other side" just by knowing it. And who is to say they didn't just have the cross-that-bridge-when-we-get-to-it mentality that seems to permeate current political and economic policies?

Machines don't need humans, as they don't need to be. OK, well, do we?

That's a good alternative explanation of the basic Matrix scenario: Humans made the sky become dark. Humans built the machines. Humans created the matrix and plugged themselves in, maybe 99% preferred this to living underground knowingly ...
Why do the machines keep the humans alive? Because they are programmed to do so. Do they need humans as a source of power? No, absurd idea, the whole process of maintaining the tanks, plugging the humans and feeding them with other humans would suffer from a constant loss of energy. Nuclear or geothermic power would be a much better solution. The only reason for the Matrix construct is a metaphysical, not a physical one.

its just an ironic truth. we as humans have depended on machinces for years to survive, but in an ironic twist of fate, humans are now the machines, and the machines need us to survive.

well maybe te machines were unaware of the light beyond black sky. and the reason the machines shut down was due to the lightning. lightning serves as EMP to machienery instant short ciurcut(spelling?). so there is my thought.

i dont think so. In Animatrix we are told that the humans bombed the machines to cut off their use of solar power.

true about the harsh electomagnetic havoc above though. It would not be easy (or even possible) for the machines to reach it, much less use it.

oh i haven't seen to much of the ani-matrix, really its a little hard to find it.

I think it´s like the ying-yang, it needs to be balanced, for example, if the matrix is destroyed and the machines destroyed, then everyone plugged in will die, not awake.

And if the machines destroy mankind, they wouldnt have a purpouse, because that´s what differences us from them, we can live without a clear purpouse, in fact nobody knows why its on this Earth, but the machines are created to know what their purpouse is, so they both need each other, its very ironic.

I have seen many posts were u discuss on the Animatrix, adn which are better. Have u already seen them? Cuz that was the main problem, put now seems resolved.
