Hi im new to the forums and I really enjoy that this site is as dedicated as it is to one of the greatest movies of all time.
-- anyway.. onto my theory.
I'm not sure if this should go into Matrix-within-a-Matrix section ... but I believe that this is true.
"The power of the One extends beyond this world. It reaches from here all the way back to where it came from: The Source"
Perhaps the true source is death, the one final freedom. The world of Zion is just another matrix which Neo can manipulate at his free will.
It's not like in the first movie Neo could instantly kill the Agents with a yawn and a slap. No, it took him a while to fully understand how it works, it took something to awaken that within him. Trinity.
Trinity once again pushes Neo beyond his 'programming', so to speak, it is because of her that Neo defys the Architect and chooses his own path, much like in the first matrix where he could run or fight Smith. Neo chose to fight, freeing himself. Much like he fights for Trinity.
It is his freedom that pushes Neo, he has always wanted to get out, to be free. The real question is from what. There could be thousands upon thousands of artificial worlds, all of which Neo could manipulate.
Destroying a squid is as easy as killing an agent for Neo because it is all artificial, and Neo is beyond it.
Thats my theory... thank you.

I like the conclusion, it's a very neatly tied up lil thing, but unfortunately it isn't going to cut the mustard with a true genius like Marsouills.
Unfortunately I disagree with this theory, again, but it's nicely reasoned, and i don't want to bash you all the time, mon.

...no, The Source is the mainframe of the Matrix, the origin of the "equation" that resides within the One(s). Neo destroyed the Sentinels because he can interact and alter key elements of the Source mentally, in the same way he does within the Matrix.
You do present a valid point, however, on Trinity's role in Neo's awakening, although I'm sure this has been done to death elsewhere....
