»Neo's Childhood«

What was Neo's childhood like. What is anyone in the Matrix's childhood like. Is one assigned random parents? Any and all information on this topic would be very nice.

This brings up the question of overanalyzing The Matrix.

For this thing to work women have to think they get pregnant and have babies. The machines have to figure out what kids look like so they can see themselves in the mirror, otherwise how could Neo in the real world look like Neo in the Matrix. He had to grow up in The Matrix knowing what he looked like.

Does this mean the machines have to select DNA on the basis of which human beings mate in The Matrix? How do the machines decide when women "get pregnant" in The Matrix?

Computerized birth control. The Fundamentalists will love that.

They've got plugs in them anyway so getting DNA from them when the babybot(my name for the robot that monitors who's doing the nasty) says it's time to make a new battery. They choose who gets pregnant based on how many vacant pods they have, duh.
Oh, I'd say Neo's childhood was a lot like the kids'. Except, without the getting chased by agents part. Another short in the animatrix covers a bunch of kids who find a "haunted house."

The basic Joseph Campbell messianic story structure suggests that messiahs rarely have a detailed childhood (i.e. Jesus is born, is seen as a very young man, and then there are no cannonized stories of his activities until he's thirty).

It still determines who jsut not as directly as how many.

The machines could easyly extract the DNA of any male and female placed in the power plant in order to create a baby.

Because if you remember what Morpheus said "We are no longer born, we are grown." that is what the fields are for so that they can mass produce babies. to place in the power plant when the time comes for it.

HOw do you know that your parents are your parents? How do you know it is you, you see in the mirror each morning. While yes it is true that you will never know what you look like until you are free. I often ponder on this tought myself.

But it is like i said. I think that it is highly likely that the machines extract the DNA (sperm and egg) from one male and one femal in the power plant. It could also be that (like i also said earlier about sex being a simulation) the machince constantly moniter the matrix for people who have sex. I could be then that the choose a couple, to make the baby from.
