In the toliet scene with Neo, Morpheus, Trinity and Persephone, When Persephone looks back in the mirror at Neo and says "He was just like you", i understand it know.

She is not talking about the Merv, being a former One. she see's how much Love and passion Neo has for trinity, and Persephine misses that, that is why she asked him for a kiss. That was what she ment by that line.

So that means when both the merv and persehpone came to the matrix, the merv was a passionate man.

that is probably half of it, but being Neo like is possible for anyone really. What is Neo? after all, and don't say the one. My guess is the Merv was originally uncurrupted by power, his motivations were perhaps more pure you might say. After all, Lucifer himself was the brightest of all angels, which is what Lucifer means. The story goes on and Lucifer supposedly takes on the throne (of god) and of course loses, but from that point he is forever currupted by power, and his need to attain it, absolutley. And of course, the tale of the Merovingian blood line date's it not only through the christ, but to Lucifer himself, where it supposedly started. To put it bluntly, the Merv's original role with his program brothren most likely relates closely to Neo and his role with Zion.

I agree with both arguments.

In the beginning, Mero was the pure savior for programs that wanted to break free from the tight deterministic world or that wanted to have a nice retirement instead of being bluntly deleted after years of hard working.

The five glasses on the table mean that the Mero has been inside Matrix version 3 since the beginning, so he met or knew about all of Neo's predecessors.

The three glasses on the table between Trinity and Persephone probably mean that Persephone was Mero's 'Trinity' in the beginning. That they both experienced the power of love and that this drove the Merovigian to be the savior that he was back then.

I agree with all 3 of you. He is definitley lucifer within the Matrix. Club hell shows his perversion and his dark heart. The horny cake girl shows his lust for women, the Keymaker his lust for power.
