The TWIST of the Matrix Trilogy, and in Revolutions....

...actually came towards the end of Reloaded!

I find it very interesting that the NUMBER ONE complaint of Revolutions (and there have been more than one), is that there was no "solution" given to what all this had been leading up to.

I honestly believe that die-hard AND casual fans everywhere would have benefitted greatly if one thing was different:

The Architect scene had been in the beginning of Revolutions.

THIS was it...THIS was the "solution", what Morpheus had been leading Neo to do from the very beginning. Yet, it proved to not be the actual solution, hence Revolutions would then feel much more intense for the rest of the story. There was already so much to chew on in Revolutions, that WHY OH WHY didn't the W Bros. decide to throw The Architect scene into Revolutions? Fans waiting for some sort of "solution" to all the riddles of parts 1 and 2 were left hanging with Revolutions, because they were not "answered". And while I am a strong supporter of the Trilogy as a whole, I feel this would have made a very big difference.

What do you think?

To put the Architect scene in revolution would make no sense.

M1 is about the birth/first enlightment/"whatever you wanna call it" of The One (Neo's resurrection).

M2 is about his journey along the path that has been prepared for him by the Architect (the prupose of The One).

M3 is about Neo breaking all bounderies, about his real enlightment, which happens in the Mobile Ave scene and the fulfillment of the Prophecy. It is about a new day.

Now, if you would go and rip the Architect scene out of M2 and place it in M3, M2 would not be complete. The Architect scene is not the solution!

The Mobile Ave scene makes much more sense for Neo's opening scene in M3:

Sati: "Good morning."

I mean... this is just perfect and says it all... this one sentence by Sati already tells us the entire story of M3. It tells us the solution. This one sentence is pure ingenuity.

Actually if we're talking about a good end to M2, I sometimes think it probably should have ended shortly after Link said, "I can't take this" after Neo revived Trin. Then M3 could pick up with the Neb being destroyed and the arrival of the Hammer. This part always feels like we are in a new movie anyway...at least to me Aaah, is there anything better than to post here and to drink something

But the cliffhanger with Bane/Smith would be a much better ending than just ending it with Neo reviving Trinity
The scene with Neo using his Sentinal killing powers I believe was put there to keep people wanting to watch Revolutions
Of course we didn't get a good answer but it still closed some doors

M1 didn't end on a cliffhanger, though.

M1 had a little teaser
I mean who wouldn't want to watch a movie about a superhuman guy...right?
But then maybe the W Brothers didn't think they'd make two more movies so they rounded it off

They had always intended to make the sequels. Whether or not they thought they could or not did depend much on the success of M1, though, so ok.

I say, "round Reloaded off, too, then!" Evilevil

Hm. Interesting post. Let me clarify something right away however - the reason that I put "solution" in quotes is because it is obviously not the solution, but rather the solution to what M1 and M2 were leading up to, in regards to the Prophecy. It is then the "end of the Prophecy" as it had to this point been constructed. Do you see what I'm driving at?

I DO like the way you processed the "Good morning" line from Sati....it is in fact "a new day", and perhaps that is why M3 just felt so damn different than the other two films. The whole point of the third film, the conclusion, is that they ended it quite different from any big budget action film that had ever come before. For that reason ALONE, it's hard not to at least respect - for Christ's sake, the "good guys" didn't "beat the bad guys"....it ended in a TRUCE! That is what I call pure brilliance.

F*#$ all the naysayers...The Matrix Trilogy is amazing. Would I have liked to have seen more of what was in, for example, some of the Animatrix films? Of course. I for one really thought we were in store for some crazy Telekenisis stuff (Pyrokenisis, etc) in Revolutions. Would have made sense too - the floating blocks by one of the "potentials" in M1, the bending spoon, the return of the spoon in M2 (a possible "set up reminder", or so I thought), Neo using telekenisis in M2 against the Sentinels....but it wasn't to be, and the saga went out with less excitement than it COULD have. BUT, that simply can't take away from what it was a collective whole, and that's why I am and will always be a Matrix fan (fanatic?).
