Why coudn't you fight Bane?

Because this fight would be lame and without depth. There are no fancy moves you can do.

Why is all of m3 sumed up in 3 minites?

Because it contains almost no Matrix-action and it is further more too complicated for the target customers of brainless gamers.

Why no zion levels?

Because they suck? It would probably just be lame shootouts like the last level in "Enter the Matrix".

I think he can fly. It's in the trailer! Maybe you didn't get a bonus or something?

I know the ending was bad, but I don't think that people should have been waiting months for it to be released just to see the ending. In the little video clip, they said that it was because it would be a pretty pathetic ending to a game to simply be taken over and lose to the last boss. That is all. Fans of the movies (Like me) would obviously want to have the real trilogy ending, but they made it more a video game on its own than a complete connection to the films. I thought it was a really good game though. My only problems were that they didnt have the Movie music in Burly Brawl and Super Burly Brawl, And most of the main characters (including neo) were poorly immitated. I don't know why they couldnt hire reeves to do it. (Well. I don't think it was him, it sounded nothing like him.) Same with Smith. And the game was too short. Much better that ETM though.

For me, Path of Neo has nothing to do with the Matrix story. "The Matrix" consists of the three movies. This is the story and it is good the way it is. You might add the information given in ETM and Animatrix for a better understanding.

But MxO and PoN are just some commerial products to keep the $$$ rollin'. I have no problem with that, but it's not part of the Matrix experience for me. Just some computer games.

And for PoN: Any story element that is not consistent with the Triology sucks anyway...

Sorry I'm coming late to the conversation. I hope what I say isn't lost in the flow of the forum.

Satori is not about the paradox of choice and choicelessness. It has nothing to do with free will versus fate. Satori is a form of enlightenment. You know what happens when you're in a crowded room talking to someone and someone across the room loudly slams something down? You jump and completely lose your train of thought for just a split second, right? In that moment you are without thought. If you could then keep this without thought mind all the time, then you would be experiencing Satori.

In context, I am not saying Larry Wachowski doesn't understand his films. But he certainly seems confused as to what Buddhism believes and teaches. That is what I am saying.

Totally disagree. Your grasp of these subjects is dead on, but your interpretation of what Larry was saying is a little off. Larry said satori in reference to the film ending which they ripped out in the game, specifically, the moment Smith says: For every beginning there is an end, Neo. Neo definitely has a moment of satori there, exactly the way you described it. He is snapped out of what he is doing, fighting, and as Larry puts it, surrenders himself to Smith. Neo is enlightened to his fate, and accepts it.

What clued me into this is the character of Sati, who I researched far and wide to find out what she stood for. Obviously she does not represent the hindu practice of widows throwing themselves on the funeral pyres of their dead husbands. The word is sanskrit for "being" and is used prominenantly in the Bhagavad Gita, in topics of transcendence. I later stumbled onto a few meditation cults/groups Smile who used the term sati to represent their ideals of ultimate transcendence, much in the same way that Nirvana progressed from the idea of a paradise to a state of pure... well, being.

So I would argue that the Brothers understand Buddhism very well, and the themes of the Matrix as a mental world, people entering it in a form of meditation, Neo's battle with Smith as his negative self, surrender after a moment of enlightenment, and Sati as "that which matters most", a greater and beautiful future, etc, etc.... yeah, I think they nailed it. It's just that, at a few points the Wachowskis seem to proclaim, "references aside, the matrix is still it's own world".

My 2 testicles (LOL, I wrote "c e n t s" and the forum spit that word out!)

I don't have the game yet, but I've watched the 3 cinematics and I find the idea very funny, fighting the giant Smith, it's very cool !
I don't understand why you don't simply enjoy it, it's obvious that they made it for the fun and not any baking noddles lol

Mobil, I don't think that the Mxo sotryline is crap, it's actually very intereseting if you read the detailed news.

I'm right there with you Apocryphe! It reminds me of the ending of Dogma (the Kevin Smith film). Especially the original script in which God replies to Bethanny's meaning and purpose of life question with one word... "plastics."

Plastics ? Anyone can extend that... at least at the joking level ?

ps - You people study THE MATRIX but you don't want to apply the lessons from it to the real world. How much money do you want to give to THE MATRIX machine to turn out mediocre imitations of the original great production. STAR TREK had a bigger universe to work with but it was wearing out during Voyager.

I'd rather you speak for yourself and not everyone on the board. The only money I've spent on the films was to see all three once in theater and I got the box set with the extras and I consider all of that money, money well spent because I enjoyed what I got for the money. I'm not sure I'd start calling that conspicous consumption, or indeed relate it to the passive consumerism that has so entrenched western society. Trying to transcend and reach new truths, simply does not relate, as one is a quest for the soul, and therefore rebirth, while the other is giving away it's very life force so it can beat the Jonses and live comfortably. Wanting to apply the lessons... well, it has less to do with want, and more to do with capability. Trying to enlighten people is a slow process, generally one person at a time, and most of us are not in posistions of power that allow us to hold sway over the masses in any real form. Feel free to contribute to the board, but if you just came here to make fun of people, you're waisting your own time more then anyone elses.

part one (W bro's speaking)
media.putfile.com...

part 2 (giant power ranger Smith Bot Go!(the shades grab was friggen hilarious))
media.putfile.com...

part 3 (We are the champions!)
media.putfile.com...

If you were playing this game in the hopes of a new ending that made the movies better, I suppose I feel sorry for you, and on more then one level. The original ending was not only adequate, it was excellent. This ending is a joke, and it is satire, so if you don't understand the point of view, you may see it as a joke at your expense, which in truth it may be. But if you do understand where they are coming from, you can enjoy the humor and the game at the same time (wow, what a concept).

This was a jab at every other action flick and how the resolve the plot, sure it was way over the top, but the point was that if the masses had their way, the matrix would end with a simuliar but better produced ending. The matrix is not so sacred that they can't make a point using it combined with humor, it is rumored that god itself may have a sense of humor (yet another interesting concept). If you wanted a better ending, and felt this was an insult to you, in truth it was in part at least true. It is a jab at what people normally like to see in movies and games and plot resolution. Again, it is way over the top on purpose, (see satire) to make a point which is still relevant.

That is all, Thank you come again!

you must realise the reason why the wachowski's are laughing at the end of the game..

do you get it?

END OF THE GAME

game in which the brothers have been playing people for years..

now the way i see it. they went way too far with making m2 and m3..

you will find that the actual part that made sense was finished with the first movie.

the first movie is the only movie which doesnt play around with your time and effort.

m1 was totally written differently to m2 and m3.. they have a different written approach..

now you dont have to listen to me. but i have been saying it all along.. DONT WORRY ABOUT M2 AND M3 they are a joke.

And if it isa really true about the wachowski brothers laughing at the end of path of neo.. then it is a bigger joke than i had thought.

free your minds

Well if 2 and 3 are a joke and mean nothing then what's the point of the first movie. the first movie doesn't complete the story of what the matrix is.

What is the Matrix? Control. The Matrix is a computer generated dream world built to keep us under control in order to change a human being into this. [Holds up battery]-Morpheus.

What else really needed to be said? Sure, M2&3 add details, but little more, just like virtually all sequels. Just more details and eye candy.

All that was answered satisfactorily in M1, with the exception of how it came into existance. That, however, was answered in Second Renaissance, not any of the movies. The sequels were unnecissary additons that took away more than they added. So why couldn't they be some sort of joke?

Guys, I don't know if anyone reads this thread anymore, but I just want to say that the game really isn't THAT bad. It most certainly is fun, especially playing the role as "The One."

Sure, the ending could have been better, and different as well, but The W. Brothers did what they thought best, especially for a videogame, where submitting to your enemy's power and therefore merging with him to become the "True One" is, well, a little hard for a videogame designer to program as an objective...What are they supposed to tell you to do, put down the controller and let Smith do his thing? In videogames, you always want to kick a$$, and the fact that they took the time(in a weird yet comical way, for that matter) to explain why they did this as well as the real symbolism behind the ending of the trilogy(the whole "Jesus" thing), says a lot I think....

I'm sure other people have said this, but again, we still have the movie to admire as a work of art, and the video game to kick some mother-f'ing a$$....

From Delusion lead me to Truth
From Darkness lead me to Light
From Death lead me to Immortality.
