Hi, as you see I am a new member! Recently I saw the trilogy again and I grew excited more than the first time I saw the first movie back 6 years ago!

I noticed something in the movies, that, curiously, hasn't been mentioned ever before in any of the theories I have came across.

As many of us know, the Matrix has numerous things borrowed from the Neuromancer novel. Some say that even 'Zion' is from the novel as well (being a space station used by the 'Rastafarian navy'). Personally I believe that Zion has deeper religous meanings, not restricted to the Neuromancer but...

To those who don't know, Rastafari movenment is an Abrahamic religion based on the Old Testament, although considered a sect by mainstream church. It concerns the return of the Israelites to Zion, which is according to their interpretations, the return of black people to Ethiopia. Rastafarians are also known as Rastamen (btw Bob Marley was Rastafarian)

Is it me? or many Zionites have the typical appearance of a Rastaman? Link being an obvious example.

I don't know if the WBs tried to make an homage to the Neuromancer, or just wanted to refer to Rastafari, among the other religious references. The appearance of Rastamen in Zion is quite obvious to be overlooked.

I know it's not a great revelation that adds something to our explanations, however I'd like your opinions on this

I believe the majority of the council in zion are rast aswell. generally the real world ratio is a greater percent of colored races this could definitely be true considering the WB have brought together many religious beliefs

Not like the RastaMan.

To the Rasta, Zion is more of a lofy ideal than a place.
