I've learned it is possible to put a whole lot of ideas together and have them work to a degree without understanding what all of them are or mean.

Give a better example than General Grievous, a secondary character thrown in to provide a leader to the opposition after the execution of Count Dooku. The Architect's speech is pivotal to understanding the trilogy and the subtext thereof. And it explains alot of what follows.

Edit:

Quote:

That speech is riddled with these sorts of troubles. You can use them to create awesome Matrix ideas (which is my preference) or you can concurrently realize the truth... the W's didn't edit it nearly well enough!

Oops, that proves you're clueless. What do you think the supposed discrepancies indicate about the Character making the statements?

Clueless and just as bad a writer as the W's Smile "or... concurrently" that doesn't even make any sense!

Exactly. You can use the discrepancies to create fun Matrix theories and ideas. That's the joy in them. Doesn't change that they are discrepancies though. Smile

Fun? Oh yes, you can have fun with any stories. Just be careful not to confuse the Mad Magazine version with the intended version. But if one doesn't understand, it doesn't matter anyway. Wink

But which one is the Mad Magazine version and which one is the meaningful version? Ours or theirs?

You can do better than that, intell. Stop trying to hit me and hit me! Smile

How does Smith fit in? Are you saying that they recognized Smith was (or going to be) a problem a long time ago?

RainKing:
"Well, like Trinity's death, they know its going to happen just not when or how. Why? Because having a choice causes problems in the simplest equations. Neo asks Trinity not to come into the matrix, and she ends up jumping out of window. (This is why the Oracle asks, "Did you see her die." If he didn't see it, it didn't happen.) Smith goes from trying to work the system from within to forcing the system to do is bidding (it was an unpredicatable change, hence the comment at the beginning of RL).

No one knows what's going to happen (not for sure, not even the people in question(IRL, too))...that's what the last lines of Revolutions mean. She just believed if she set the deck a certain way, it would work."

Later on that day,
"But, if we're looking at the movies, Neo's involvement with Smith caused Smith to become free. So, one could say, Smith is both Machine and Zionist. We could say that, but the truth is he's neither. He's doing is own thing. Blatantly."

I'm trying to free your mind. You have to let it all go. Your sentimental and ultimately flawed attachment to the belief that the Wachowski's are infallible. Let go of the fear and doubt those thoughts produce. The W's only showed us a door, we have to walk through it Cool

Isn't it that illusion of infalliability that forces us to read-up/educate ourselves? It did for me. Sure, eventually they became the computer gamer techie geeks they were at heart, but for a while there, the Masterpiece had tore a hole the size of texas in the dense fabric of thoughtless, complacent droning to the monotonous and avaricial beat of the economic societal drum. Humans are more than economy and monetary value - they're more than the blind monomanicial organism they're initially painted as in the Matrix. We're talking in real life ladies and gentlemen - not in some fictious triology about computer hacker turned messiah.
AT heart, an ideal was borne of this Triology. whether or not the original intentions were pure or not, or whether the creators of this vehicle that has infiltrated our thoughts were of pure motivation is irrelevant now. Truth's swept to the side in reality have been exposed and at that to the younger generation. Thge process has begun - there's no turning back now.
It is the process of verifying falliability that ultimately exposes minds to the vehicular substance of thought necessary to do so and thus to open their minds wider than previously capable of - something essential for transcending the 'rung of existence' you're currently vibrating on.

Everything that starts in simplicity must grow in simplicity.

How strange I always considered this to be Neo's first question.

Neo - Who are you?

The Architect - ...you may or may not realize it is also the most irrelevant.

Not "Why am I here?"

Going to print the rest out to give it a good read Smile

Thanks for this.

Remember the lyrics to the song playing in Neo’s headphones while he was sleeping before his monitor?

By all means if anyone knows the name/artist to this song, post up. I've been searching for it for a while now.

There really aren't any discrepancies. There are just parts that are artfully left out so the story fits the monomyth.

I agree. No discrepancies.

Perception about what is going on in the films may create imaginary discrepancies.
