Hey, my first post!

I've seen little speculation about the artwork in the Merovingian's palace (other then something about the 'M' and the paintings). I'm talking about the statues that get trashed in the fight between Neo and Merv's goons.
I immediately recognized the figure portraited by these statues.
Why? Because I'm from Belgium (you know, pretty small but developed country between France and Holland?) and there's a similar statue in the country's oldest town, called Tongeren. Not somewhere hidden behind a church but right in the town square. What's more: he's not just known over there, all Belgians know him. He's a national historical hero. His name is Ambiorix, leader of the Eburons, and was able to keep the Roman Empire off our grounds when Cesar ruled.
Here's a link with info, and a picture of the statue if you scroll all the way down: livius.org...
But there's more. I tried to look up info about it on google a few minutes ago, but I can't find anything. Anyway, other then the resemblance there doesn't seem to be a link, right? But there's a secret about this Ambiorix average people do not seem to know. I think historiancs do, but they just leave it alone as not to bother anyone about it. It's one of those 'facts' about history that aren't really true, but we just leave it that way: The guy depicted by the statue is not Ambiorix at all, it's Merovingus. Ambiorix did exist and did defeat the Roman occupiers, but it's not him standing there. I'm not sure about the details but I believe that when they hired someone to make a statue out of Ambiorix there wasn't enough money, so they used an older statue or something. I'm not sure, the point is: It's not Ambiorix that Japanese tourists keep taking pictures of. But who cares?
To be very honest, I'm not sure about the name 'Merovingus' either but it has to be pretty close. 'Merovingius', 'Merovingix', ... You see, it has been about 10 years ago that I received this information, I was 12, and our teacher devoted an entire hour on the subject, instead of teaching us Latin. I remember him also backing it up with a comic called "Asterix & Obelix", it's about two strong heroes in the time of those Eburons, when the Romans came here. In one episode they meet with this Merovingus, and it's clearly the guy from the statue, because the author knew about the truth behind Ambiorix-being- Merovingus. In other words: he put in a few hints in this episode to make people see the truth about the famous statue. Just like Da Vinci did in 'the Last Supper' .
My story may seem a bit unstable, but that's just because I'm at a loss when it comes to the details of the names. It's been over 10 years you see, and I never really heard about it again. But I'm convinced this is not a theory but actual knowledge, just not that popular.
Anyway, there's not a real theory I'm bringing to the table. But you have to admit it's strange. Merv stacking his house with statues from a guy called 'Merovingus'. I know who Ambiorix was, but who was Merovingus, other then a historical figure here in Belgium (named Gallia in that time). And how did the W brothers come up with this? Even here I think only a few historians and mysterious old teachers know about this.
Any thoughts?
PS: Think I'll look up that old teacher, ask him about it again.
