»Why the Matix is malleable (might be alot of repetition)«

Hi.

The 'might be alot of repetition' comment means that I have not digested all of the information on the various boards. So some or all that follows may have already been put forward. If that's true, well, sorry 'bout that.

While the computing horsepower of the matrix system is really great, it would still be impossible to keep things neatly aligned amongst 4 to 6 billion people without 'help.' The help comes from the computing power/reality shaping of the individual brains of the people attached to the Matrix. The computers supply most of the reality. The individual minds fill in all of the little details. 'The One' is a person who's mind either doesn't fill in the details or alters them accidentally and then later deliberately. If you're truly in a dream and realize it (a lucid dream - a really neat, if not rare experience!) then your reality can be shaped at will.

Agent Smith: "Mr. Anderson, now you die."
Neo: "Your gun is jammed"
After vainly trying to pull the trigger, "Mr. Anderson, I can just as easily beat you to death."
Neo: "Gravity is now 4 times as strong for you" and Agent Smith vanishes as the floor gives way under his newly-increased weight.

And so it goes. Imagine the torments of Agent Smith as Neo comes up with new and imaginative ways of battling him without ever closing quarters.

Agent Smith: "Mr. Anderson, This Time I'm going to kill you"
Neo: "What are the odds of being struck by lightning?
Agent Smith looks up as the scene erupts into electric-pink. All that is left of Agent Smith is a darkened smudge on the pavement.

The real battle that Neo has is extending the reach of his influence over the artificial reality; subverting the computer system as the 'director' of what happens in The Matrix. No, it doesn't address the 'philosophical issues' of The Matrix storyline. But then the 2nd two movies didn't either!

I would like to invite you to join the discussion at the post named: Neo was the only one. THE ONE THEORY. There is a lot to read there, but I am positive you will find it facinating.
Also I would like to get you in on the discussion.

I found the thread you referenced and when time permits, I'll plow through it.

My only lament is that you and all of the rest of Matrix Fan'dom have put far more thought and consideration into the story than, sadly, the people who wrote the scripts. Seems to me that they were more interested in tinkering with action-movie formulas than writing a cohesive (I would have settled for coherent) three-movie plot. Too bad, given all of the potential groundwork laid in the first movie.
