I Robot/Matrix Tie in theories

Forgive me if this topic has already been explored in this forum, i'm new here and haven't explored the site that much yet, but, here are my ideas:

I robot seems to be an unofficial prequel to the Matrix, also explored in depth in the Animatrix, but there seems to be a few sub plots that support the theory of a Matrix in the Matrix theory common to both films:
Could the character of Sonny (main robot in I Robot) be the Robots personification of "The One" (Neo)? A revolutionary who fights for the freedom of his kind, and in a way is martyred to his cause. By tying in these two films, could Neo be a propaganda tool used by the robots to lure the humans into a false sense of security by having something to place their faith in thus straying from their main objective of fighting the robots that have control of the Matrix? Is the Matrix and Zion an experiment by the robots to see the effects of free will (a theme covered heavily in all films) on the long term developement of the human and robot nations?
I robot basically finishes where the Animatrix starts with the robots given their own city, which flourishes extremely quickly, the humans jealous of the power the robots have gained quickly isolate the city, and soon declare war, which leads to human kinds captivity. A similar fate of which the robots suffered not too long before, I think this part of the films is a metaphor for the difference between rich and third world countries, in as much as, as long as their is always the poor and enslaved the rich will always be rich (as long as the humans are enslaved the robots will always have an energy source), I think this phenomena is called gentrification.
Also could Neo/Smith etc. be the so called "ghosts in the machine" that were discussed in I Robot? A personification of free and revolutionary thought,
I'm not too sure how clear i've made these theories, but you're welcome to tell me to clarify them and my reasons behind them and also to tell me whether you think i'm talking shit or not.
Thanks

Darius

The similarities come from the fact that the W's used Isaac Asimov's work as a reference.

Flip a coin. Choose heads or tails but, if you knew every variable, there would be no choice, only an answer. That is how the Architect works.

Check out the recent essay I posted to this site ("The significant theme of American slavery in The Matrix"). You will see that the writers of the I, Robot screenplay basically hi-jacked the sub-plot of the The Matrix in their re-write of Asimov.

Think of Will Smith's character as "Angry Young Black Man of the future", complete with scowl, goatee, and diamond stud earing. He goes to lead a rebellion against The Man (white) with rejected and misunderstood robots locked up in a shipping container in a bad part town. Ghetto warrior leads the ghetto-bots.

My opinion is that they worked this theme very poorly. The central conflict of the movie is just anger and rebellion against the machine, black versus white conflict, with no higher purpose. The Matrix is exponentially more sophisticated and thoughtful, tying in many themes and philosophies- genuinely a visionary work of art. I think Will Smith is a little regretful too, since he tried hard not to play stereoypes in his other movies. But hey, it's Hollywood, and you've got to pay the rent. Oh well.

Darius beat me to it - because they have used Asimov's book as a foundation of I robot and the Animatrix history there are bound to be comparisons.

you are right in saying that it does make a decent prequal and expansion of the Animatrix history though.

Further reading on Isaac Asimovs "Laws of Robotics" and the original I Robot can be found here:
