At the beginning of revolutions, when we see all the green code, there is a very short instance when we see golden circles and then we see those circles enter into a green code.
Now, in the movie, when neo and trinity are crashing down from the skies, neo sees those same golden circles. After noticing this, it led me to conclude that the machine city must be another aspect of the matrix.
But how does this fit into a theory? Well, after studying the architects' speech, and pondering on the system that the machines built with zion, why couldn't they have built a 'real' world.
They knew that people would reject the matrix and try and flee so why not build a virtual real world. So, when people free themselves to the 'real' world. They will not rebel because they consciously believe they are free.

You may not believe this and say its just another invalid mwm theory but i leave you eith this line

Councillor: When i think about all of those people still plugged into the matrix, i cant help thinking we are plugged into them

ps sorry if it is not word for word

Councillor Hamman is trying to instill into Neo that the answer to the end of the war is not defeating the Matrix. "we need machines and they need us".

I dont mean to shoot down your observations on the opening sequence, but the MWM theory doesnt hold.

Although Zion was under complete control of the machines from the very begining of it's exsistance, it is a real place in the real world. If it were not, it would make everything the W's were trying to tell us completely irrelivant. The entire movie would be based on a false premise.

Here is a link to a thread I started on how far the control over Zion went from the machines. It was unfortunetely cut short by the termination of the official MxO boards.

Why would he build them a virtual real world? The Architect new that there was a problem with the matrix and that some of the humans would eventually wake up. that doesn't mean that he was just going to accept that. As he said in Reloaded it was a problem that he continues to try and find a solution for. he wants all of humanity plugged into the power plant and out of the machines way for good. The only reason he even allows the Ones that reach him choose between ultimate destruction and the chance to rebuild Zion is because choice is a factor of the system. He wouldn't just say "Okay. Forget fixing the problemwith the anonmaly. here's a virtual real world."

The matrix has you...

I support with Spinak says. If Zion or the 'real world' is a MwM then the trilogy means nothing and nothing has been accomplished with Neo's sacrifice. I just don't buy the MwM theory and I saw the opening sequence for Revolutions and it's supposed to be foreshadowing, but I think it was foreshadowing to Neo seeing it made of light which the Machines are made of.

one must not rule out the possibilitey of the theroy. After all real is simply impulses interpeted by our mind. even so in the real world it could still be control after the matrix is about control real or virtual. and of false belives, remeber what syfer said Something about bliss, ignorace is bliss, whoa what a concept, so the humans could be buliding this great sity the last city in the real world and be doing all they could to thrive, and not relize that is what they were supposed to do , and that is their matirx....

you will find that the real world is the real world.
the matrix is more relaxing and comfortable than the real world. if anyone was going to wake up from a matrix, then it would be the real world matrix that you are talking about.
life is hard in the real world so you will find that it would be less acceptable for the mind. the idea of a matrix within a matrix is wrong.
the architect is a liar im sorry to say
