Instead of deluging the public with so much in such a short period of time. The Wachowskis COULD have (and SHOULD have IMO) tried to land a series deal with either HBO or Showtime. They could have run a 12 episode 6 year series that revolved around the Matrix. Some episodes would take place soley in the matrix some soley in Zion. There could have been episodes that showed how the hackers work in freeing a person or losing a person. Etc. I know animatrix cover some if not all of these subjects but a series live action deal would given much more latitude and time and would have reaped much more money than a one shot anime anthology did. Plus being on cable gives them the freedom and budget to relate more to the theatrical films. Of which should have been spread out more.

Come and get one in the yarbles, if ya have any yarbles!!

That sounds like a nice idea but one problem, I think it would have or will be hard to write a great script about the Matrix every week. I mean to put all the religious references, the philosophical references, elements of comedy, and entertaining dialouge in is just too tough to do on a weekly basis. Those kind of scripts take years to write and to put out Matrix quality scripts takes more than a week. I know where you were trying to get at but it seems the video game medium is the best route other than a movie.

Yes, it wouldve been awesome, but i agree with 101....they would eventually run out of really rich plot ideas, and the series would become very cheap and thin.

okay...cut it down to say...5 years 8 episodes. The series continuity wouldn't have to strictly follow the movies and every episode doesn't have to be deep or multi-layered. Just like with the anthology movie you would have different writers who would bring a specific perspective to it.

Yeah it would be awsome to have a series on TV. The Wachowskis could just give their ideas to different writters and directors, so in return they finish it off. It really doesnt have to include as much philosophical topics of anything, because that would take too long. Downfall is the actors, Im not sure how that will turn out. A connection between The Matrix Online and a series would be good, or making the comics into series. Over all, I think its a great idea to extend The Matrix farther.

wouldnt it be better to leave the movies alone? since thats what makes them good....they are UNIQUE.

Last thing i wanted is the Matrix spammed over every format until they've whored it out of life.

what do you two sequels an animated anthology and a video game tie in all in one year?

what I proposed would have been an 8 episode 5 year series and spreading out the movies over that time. no anime. maybe a VG game released, one for each season. Only one or two episodes a season would actually tie into or relate directly to the films themselves the rest are stand alone stories. It would have given the WB more time to write interesting subplots and such and not have such a rushed feel that the trilogy has.

8 episodes a season. the way the sapranos run on hbo. since the show would be on either hbo or showtime there would be so much more latitude with language and content. Could you imagine a much deeper treatment of the Osiris crew? Or an episode dedicated to how they locate, persuade and disconnect a person from the matrix in much more detail and procedure? How about a story arc dealing with the potential ONES that we saw in the first movie and never saw again (give that bald headed spoon kid a chance to work again..lol) It would have given a chance for different influence and perspective from many different writers. Plus the marketing of the season DVDs with extras and such. If the WB had worked it better they could have milked the Matrix for YEARS and not even compromise the basic story.

Thats a cool idea, although i would like to follow the adventures of a crew, that are looking for rebels to free, or maybe exiles are causing a problem and they have to kill them and encounter agents. Deep storylines, like a newly discovered hacker who wants to know the answer to the question that drives him/her yet the crew are finding it increasingly hard to find (him being able to keep a tight "sercurity system") and a Agent is about to kill him, race against time. Thats just one ep. of course, but thats what i'd expect, cool storylines.
