Here are details of a new Matrix game which is apparently being released at the end of this year - everyone keep their fingers crossed, because if they get this right, it could be brilliant. Hopefully without the time constraints of a simultaneous movie release, Shiny can do a better job than they did with Enter The Matrix (not bad, some great moments, some terrible ones!)

gamesradar.msn.co.uk...

Being able to play as Neo would definitely rock...

Yeah it would but its not going to happen though. It basically picks off right after Revolutions. You'll create your own character and play a role in the future of Zion and the Machines. You'll be able to join the first year either with the Zionists, Machines, or Exiles (Merovingian & Q-Ball Gang). All the remaining characters will be on there: Seraph, Oracle, Morpheus, Niobe, etc. As you accomplish more missions and/or kills you get more skills. Theres a point where you could even jump over buildings, tons of weapons are available for your pleasure, alot of different kinds of styles of fighting, you can also go through every single door you see, The Mega City is also never ending, none stop music will be played by live djs, its going to be an awsome game. Im personally getting my computer system ready for it. As I said, you along with everyone else in the game will choose the fate of the human race and machine race depening on what happens.

Thanks for the link Wake_up. I'll be one of the first to be buying this game since I'm a huge video game addict and play whenever I have the time.

Hope they really don't rush this one either but I'm sure they won't because as you said they don't have to release it with a movie. If they take their time and fix the glitches Enter the Matrix has and actually puts a kick ass story if someone makes different choices than Neo made in the moive, the game will rock.

I would choose the right door just to see what would have happened lol.

I'd really like a game similar to KOTOR or some sort of squad based strategy game centered on the Matrix universe.

I hope...

that you're being sarcastic here. The Matrix Online is going to be just like that...turn-based RPG like KOTOR.

How would YOU be able to tell the difference between the dream world...and the real world?

It's not turn based is it? I thought it would be more like EQ and other MMPORPGs. I'm thinking something more on the line of UFO, Silent Storm, etc. X-Com type experience with updated graphics

I'm pretty sure the Matrix Online will be like Everquest or Star Wars Galaxies. I think it will be A LOT like SW Galaxies in my opinion. I use to play galaxies and the screen shots I've seen of Matrix Online and the information the previews give makes me see a very big resemblance.

I'm estatic that the Matrix: Path of Neo will be out on Xbox. I would have bought the PS2 just for this game had it only been on that console. I plan on kicking a** and taking names while doing so. But we have to wait until the fourth quarter of the year to do so.

i am totally psyched about this new game.. i wonder if this has anything to do with what joel silver was talking about when he said the W's were thinking of creating a game that might help to fill in seraph's backstory.. but from the sound of it.. it just seems to be a game that let's us be Neo and kick ass like in the movies.. if that is the case.. there might be yet another matrix game coming our way where you can play as seraph! Cool

So it looks like either they won't make the game for Gamecube, or they will just release it at a later date, which wouldn't make sense. I have a Gamecube, so basically that means if I want to play this game I'd have to get a PC version game.

The game sounds hot but I think that's fucked up, oh well.

This is a bit off topic, but for some reason I cannot stand xbox controls and gameplay in general. The xbox has kick ass graphics and nobody can deny that, but I have both a PS2 and an Xbox and games that came out on the PS2 have much better controls. Grand Theft Auto vice city is a prime example. With the Ps2 version I can ride the bikes like 100 mph and weave through traffic like a pro but on the xbox version I crash like a billion times.

Anyways, back to the Matrix game: I pray they don't rush this title. Also I hope they don't add a bunch of dumb missions like make you fight 1000 people who were not in the movie. I know the game might be a bit boring if they make it just like the movies in a way but when developers add stuff that wasn't really in the movie just to make a level hard it annoys me a bit. But on the other hand, the developers might pleasantly surprise me and incorporate the movie perfectly with the game. *crossing fingers*

Well the website did say that Atari was solely working on this project, like to make it as perfect as they can, and that they'd be investing more time and money in to the game. So I don't think the game will be a bust because it doesn't sound like they are trying to rush it.

Supposing the game pretty much follows the three movies plots, which fight scenes are you guys looking forward to?

I have to say these were the best fights in the movies in my opinon and I personally loved Neo Vs Seraph and wished it were longer. Anyways which fight are you guys looking forward to playing in the game from the list below?

Morpheus Vs Neo (Training)
Neo Vs Government agents (Saving Morpheus)
Agent Smith Vs Neo (Subway)
Neo Vs Seraph (Tea House)
Neo Vs Smiths (Brawl)
Neo Vs Merovigian's Henchmen (Castle)
and Neo Vs Smith (end)

The chateau fight, especially if you can pick weapons off the walls and break stuff.

I'm most looking foward to the Neo vs. Smiths (brawl). But also the sparring between Morpheus and Neo. That was such a great scene, Neo trying to come into his powers. And they're probably not going to rush it since the MxO will be out. And we won't see Path of Neo until the last quarter of the year. And for the record xbox is better than ps2. Plus xbox has the colors of the Matrix the green and black I knew they would make Matrix video games for xbox. And I hope Path of Neo doesn't completely follow the movie trilogy because that will limit what we can do in the game like Enter the Matrix. I want some new missions or new sets. And hopefully Merv and Persephone will make an appearance. This game has the potential to be very good though! Better than Enter the Matrix because the main characters will be involved.

i'm glad you said that.. i've always thought the same thing.. the xBox is a good piece of hardware, but i've always thought that clunky controller was a piece of shite. the ps2 controller is imho the best designed controller there is. the layout.. the fact that even the main buttons are analogue and not just the control stick..

I read all over that it isn't come out for Gamecube, which is what I have - so it sucks in that regard.

Lol, my bad. I was assuming that you were talking about MxO.

3Tooth

Enter The Matrix was alright, MxO is pretty good (but not as great as I anticipated). So Im pretty skeptical towards where this game is going. But because Im intrigued with PC gaming and The Matrix, Ill be getting my hands on it as soon as possible when it comes out.

Those screenshots look real clean especially the one where Neo is sparring Morpheus. I can't wait until this game drops its gonna be something special hopefully. I read something about a fight in a movie theater that was filmed that was never put into the movies looking forward to that. Thumbup
