I was listening to Metallica's song "One" the other day when i realized the lyrics seem to have to do with The Matrix. Here are the lyrics to the song and strangely enough, the song came out before the Matrix. Important lines have a *
Lyrics:
One
I Can't Remember Anything
Can't Tell If this Is True or Dream*
Deep down Inside I Feel to Scream
this Terrible Silence Stops Me
Now That the War Is Through with Me
I'm Waking up I Can Not See*
That There Is Not Much Left of Me
Nothing Is Real but Pain Now *

Hold My Breath as I Wish for Death
Oh Please God,wake Me

Back in the Womb its Much Too Real *
in Pumps Life That I must Feel
but Can't Look Forward to Reveal
Look to the Time When I'll Live
Fed Through the Tube That Sticks in Me *
Just like a Wartime Novelty
Tied to Machines That Make Me Be*
Cut this Life off from Me *

Hold My Breath as I Wish for Death
Oh Please God,wake Me

Now the World Is Gone I'm Just One
Oh God,help Me Hold My Breath as I Wish for Death
Oh Please God Help Me

Darkness *

Imprisoning Me *
All That I See *
Absolute Horror
I Cannot Live *
I Cannot Die
Trapped in Myself*
Body My Holding Cell*

Landmine

Has Taken My Sight
Taken My Speech
Taken My Hearing
Taken My Arms
Taken My Legs
Taken My Soul
Left Me with Life in Hell

The song itself is not bad either. And whats even more odd is the name of the song: One....in reference to the One (Neo). the song itself was supposed to be about war. So post me your replies please.

Being a fan of Metallica, and this being a favorite song of mine, I'm surprised I didn't find this connection myself. Great job.

Another song that resembles the Matrix is Rob Dougan's "One and the Same"....Ironically, Rob Dougan has composed music for the Matrix.

Written way before the matrix, but reminds me of the films:

Wish you were here:

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground.
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

All My Life

by Foo Fighters

All my life I've been searching for something,
Something never comes, never leads to nothing,
Nothing satisfies, but I'm getting close,
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope.
All night long I dream of the day,
Then it comes around and it's taken away,
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most,
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost.

Come down, don't you resist,
You've such a delicate wrist.
And if I give it a twist,
Something to hold when I lose my grip.
Will I find something in the air,
To give me just what I need.
Another reason to bleed.
ONE BY ONE hidden up my sleave,
ONE BY ONE hidden up my sleave.

Chorus:
Hey, don't let it go to waste,
I love it but I hate the taste.
Weight keeping me down.

Will I find a believer,
Another one who believes,
Another one that decieves,
Over and over down on my knees
If I get any closer,
And if you open up wide.
If you let me inside,
On and on I got nothing to hide,
On and on i got nothing to hide.

Done, done onto the next one, done.

I don't know, but the first time I heard that, I was like, "whoa.... Matrix!". Particuarly in the first verse

You guys have way too much time on your hands. Metallica's One was made way before the Matrix, so they would've had to make the movie to revolve around the song. Don't get me wrong, I love Metallica and the Matrix was an awesome movie. But there is no connection. You guys wanna know some real movie/music synchs?

Dark Side of the Moon/Wizard of Oz - start music right after the lion roars the third time on MGM logo. Unless you have the version of Wizard of Oz where it says "For nearly forty years..." in the beginning, in which case wait an extra 8 seconds on the music.

Echoes/2001: A Space Oddyssey - Pink Floyd's Meddle CD (Track 6), start it right at Jupiter and the Infinite Beyond sequence.

Pink Floyd's Obscured By Clouds/A Clockwork Orange - start music right when movie starts.

Pink Floyd's The Wall (CD)/Disney's Alice in Wonderland - start The Wall right when opening music would normally start in Alice in Wonderland, keep going through both CD's but skip Comfortably Numb.

Sorry if I offended any of you, but you're all looking too deep into this. 3Tooth

I knew about Pink Floyd's Dark Side/Oz thing, but the others are new to me. And as for everyone else, you really are looking way too deeply for this junk. The Foo Fighters song is about heroine (or maybe cocaine) and the Metallica is about guy in a coma. Granted, "One" has some definite similarities to the Matrix (I couldn't see any in the Foo Fighters song), but if you see/hear these things, and the first thing you think of is how it applies to the Matrix, then I'm sorry, but y'all need to get some lives. Go get "The Great Gatsby" or "Catcher in the Rye" or "Silence of the Lambs" from the library, or go to the symphony or the opera. Go find something worthwhile to occupy your time. This is a pleasant diversion, but it should not consume you. And if this shadow has offended, just think on this, and all is mended. That you have but slumbered here while ths message did appear. And this weak and idle theme, no more yielding but a dream. Give me your hands, if we be friends, and Robin shall restore amends. (Please, someone tell me they recognize that.)

Four out of five of my personalities agree that the fifth one should be committed...

Have any of you seen Ministry live? They are on the Matrix soundtrack and were the band playing at the "flesh fair" in Spielberg's "A.I.".
If they come to a town near you, check them out. They aren't what they used to be, but still incredible.
