Hey guys, just wondered what made you go an see the matrix 1 in 1999 - did u see a trailer and think - gotta see it, the effects look ace? or whatever! let me know! thanks guys!
i think for me it was all the bullet time stuff, never saw any other films have effects like that, So i went to see it purely because the effects looked like nothing id ever seen before - and it just happened to have an bril story too. claire

When the Matrix first came out I didn't know much about it, I didn't even know who was starring in the film. All I knew was that it was futuristic and had awesome special effects. When I watched it I was definetly amazed. I loved the first person view we got from Neo (seeing what he saw). I can't remember too many movies that give that kind of view, mostly see that view in video games. I loved the sparring between Morpheus & Neo and the train station fight with Neo vs. Smith (State & Balboa).

Re: when I first watched it, I actually missed the cinema release and din't know too much about it, it was only when I borrowed it from a mate that I first watched it.

Re: what aspects got me into it, I think it was the fact that it was so open to interpretation that done it for me. It was a hell of alot deeper than most films and you could draw your own conclusions, hence the the community we have today. Plus I was obviously wooed by the awesome action scenes.

Trinity: It is the question that drives us.

Neo: What is the matrix?

Morpeus: Unfortunately know one can be told what the matrix is...you have to see it for yourself.

Whatthe
That combined with the weird effects in the trailer...I had to go and find out what the hell the matrix was.

The matrix has you...

I never wanted to see it because everyone always told me it was a very confusing movie. And then one of my friends told me it was one of his favorite movies and that I should watch it with him so that if I had questions he could explain it to me. So I liked the movie. But what got me hooked was Reloaded - when I saw the trailer I was definitely hooked and the movie did the trick.

I saw it in the movie theaters when I was about 11, but I failed to comprehend it. When it came out on VHS, I bought it not because I liked the movie when I saw it in the theater, but because of the cool shiny VHS cover (if you know what I'm talking about.)

After watching it again at my house, I analyzed it more and began to understand it. Then I became hooked to it. It got to the point where I would watch the part (at the end) where Neo gets back up when Trinity kisses him, when the code starts pouring down....I would watch that part over and over. That part still gives me chills.

The first time I saw it was on tv and was amased by the effects and action but the thing that really grabbed my attention was the agents comming back after being killed.

I was too young at the time to understand it and didnt pay much heed to it after until I was in my local video store and saw a copy of the matrix reloaded, rented it and made it my mishon in life to find and watch all the others. Cool

I don't remember seeing trailers for it, I was preeetty young when I saw it, infact when I saw it I didn't even know what movie I was seeing (I just tagged along.) What wooed me was the martial arts, but then I got pretty addicted to the whole concept when I started talking to my friend about it (Matrix in a Matrix and all that stuff) then I got properly hooked to the whole thing as soon as I saw the Matrix Reloaded trailer! That's when the obsession fully kicked in, I always loved the Matrix but seeing the Reloaded trailer just made it seem so much more Pen-Ultimate!

I saw the movie for the first time in september, just before school started. I've always been into sci-fi, you know Star Wars, Spider-man ect. ect. But my mom had me check it out for her since someone told her about it. A few days later I had to get the second one. That night she pulled me out of my room to see Trinity's scrorpion kick. Then she spent an hour and a half telling me all about the first movie. Then i spent all the next day telling her I could handle it. That night i got to watch it. i think what really got me hooked though was Trinity. I remember watching her run up the wall in the first part and being completly awed.
i spent the next three days dying to see the second one.
The first line I ever heard was:
Neo:What are you doing?
Trinity: Going with you
Neo: no you're not
Trinity: No? Let me tell you what I believe. I believe that Morpheuse means more to me then he dose to you. and I believe that if you are really serios about saving him then you are going to need my help. and as i am the ranking officer on this ship, if you don't like it i believe you can go to hell. because you're certinly not going anywhere else.

I heard about it when it was at the movies but I never saw it...then one day I was at my friends house and he had Foxtel and he turned it on and The Matrix was on...and he had already seen it and said it was a mad movie so I watched some of it and the start how Trinity went for the phone then the truck crushed it sorta got me wondering and I watched more and I think I watched up to the where "Morpheus is fightin' Neo" and that was awesome so then I got it on VHS now I have the hole trilogy on DVD. Awesome Stuff![/quote]

I first saw the trailer for Matrix 1 during half-time on the Super Ball. I was blown away just by those 5 minutes. When I first saw it in theaters, I didnt know what to make of it because I kinda got lost in the middle of things. I saw it a few more times then understand it clearly, when it came out on DVD I practically saw it everyday. The philosophies, the action, the story, it all amazed me back then and still today.

my jaw dropped to the floor. it (M1) was an awesome movie all the way around. i dont know if i can describe one thing that stands out above everything else that made me enjoy it so much. if i had to pick, i would have to say...the part when morpheus was telling neo that you have to se the matrix to know what it is...and neo takes the red pill...then things just got crazy, i think i was in the same mindset that neo was in..."what the F*&^ just happened? where am i and what the hell is going on?" and then morpheus describing how the real world was just a program and not real, and showing it to him...that was awesome to me!

and the fact that i was going through a phase in which i questioned everything around me..."what is real and what isnt? how do i know im really here, or you are really there and its not just in my mind, or someone elses? do i really feel pain or have i just been taught what pain is and when/how/why i should feel it and therefore i feel it?" and so on, so the timing was perfect for me!

then the sequels came and made you think even more. i enjoy movies that you can watch, but also make you think. the kind of movies that you can watch over and over and still get something new from it, something there you didnt see before, something else that makes you think...

i love it Thumbup

Matrix 1 was cool for me but I didn't get me hooked.

I got hooked after seeing Matrix 2. From that point on it really becomes a very interesting web of philosophical and technically logical elements.

I first saw it at church when I was eleven at this youth group sleep over thing. It just has a feel that nearly no other movie has, no matter how many times I watch it I can watch it again (I've literally seen it probably around 30 times).

The Super Bowl trailer. As soon as I saw it (then downloaded it), I knew it was flick worth watching. I kept bugging my friends every day until Easter week, and we all scheduled some time after work to go watch it on opening night!
