Should I watch the other non-written-by-brothers episodes of Animatrix? I watched The Second Renaissance Part 1 and 2, Detective Story and Program(Which I think this episode is full of Bullshit and no connection to the story).Should I watch Beyond, Matriculated, The Kid, Last Flight Of Osiris and World Record?

If you bought the disc you might as well watch them all. And if you didn't what could it hurt? The others are quite entertaining as well. I recommend them if you've got some time to waste.

The four Wachowski-written episodes -- "The Second Renaissance, Parts I and II," "Kid's Story," and "Final Flight of the Osiris" -- are all well worth watching for several different reasons. The others range from decent ("Program") to sublime ("Matriculated," "Beyond"), although all are worth, at the very least, one viewing.

Um... "Program" was written by Kawajiri Yoshiaki ("Ninja Scroll"); "Dectective Story" was written by Watanabe Shinichiro (Cowboy Bebop).

And what do you mean you don't have The Animatrix? You should have "The Ultimate 'Matrix' Collection" proudly in your possession by now...

I recently bought the Animatrix on VHS, much to my joy. But I only enjoyed "Final flight of the Osiris" "Kid's story" "Detective story" and I didn't understand any of the others. Hey, can anyone explain the stoy "Beyond"? It would help this MatrixChix out a lot. I don't have anyone else to ask. Thanks in advance.

Beyond to me is a story of a specific place within the matrix which is not right, in other words it has a major glitch.

Regular kids (unplugged and still inside of the matrix) have discovered that there is something wrong in this place, which was labeled as a haunted house. When they learned that they could manipulate objects and themselves they went there constantly to play there, because they found it fun.

Once the machines realized that there was a major glitch in the area they sent in agents and government officials to clear the area and make sure no other people found out about the dynamics of this place. The machines then reloaded/changed that part of the matrix.

Hope it makes sense.

thanks. It makes a lot more sense now. What about "Matricaultad"? I don't think I spelled that right, but it is the last story on the movie.

That episode is more of one showing us the mind of a machine, inside of a matrix. And it seems as if they catch these machines and "train" them, almost manipulating them to become friendly with humans. You can see that one of the machines goes and traps and kills another machine, and the humans are studying and observing all of this as it happens.

Eventually enemy machines come in and find, and kill them, and at the very end there is a machine watching this, ironically just as the humans were watching them.

That you watch them all. I bought the Animatrix when it first came out on DVD along with the soundtrack, so Ive seen it like 50 times by now. Its pretty kool, specially if you like anime, but it really does give you an inside look of the different stories within The Matrix. The main important ones though are: "Final Flight of the Osiris," "The Second Renaissance parts I & II," and "Kid's Story." I've also have the Animatrix because I bought The Ultimate Collection box set. Two box sets actually, the one with the 10 dvds and the collectors edition which I wont be opening because its going with all my other un-opened Matrix memorabilia. Cool
