how can they feel

here is something i havent come across or yet heard in any other forum.
something not as deep as other forums, but i see it as importante.
could be wrong, or i could have missed something, but here is something that has been on my mind.

when "pluged in" to the matrix (not yet having been freed), when people eat something, the matrix is telling ther brain what it taste like, what it feels like, etc..

so, here is my problem, when people are "freed" and then "jack in" to the matrix, there brain is no longer conected to the matrix. meaning ; everyting they eat within will be tasteless, not only that, but everything they touch, smell, breath in, or taste will not exist.
they should not be able to feel anything.
and because emotiones are helped by our senses ( witch should be non existent while in the matrix, just like a real video game), ther emotions should be decreesed, and less efficient on love and hate.

but, i am sure this theory can be easily explained easily. i just want something more then "your mind makes it real".
maybee the rebels ships have systems witch equal the matrixs power to make ppl feel thhings, but if so, why isint it mentioned at all in any of the three movies.

thanx for your attention
peace out

The Matrix jack gets plugged into the pineal gland. Also known as the third eye, that is what makes it possible for you to experience your senses when you are in a dream state. So whether a rebel is connected to the Matrix through a pod or on a ship, the interface that interacts with the Matrix software is the pineal gland.

I guess if you know it's all software and you have enough control then it's like having a lucid dream rather than a passive Matrix experience. So that's why they can bend the rules of the Matrix as they free their minds more. That's why Neo can fly. He knows that he should be able to make the program do whatever he wants it to do.

If you've ever had a lucid dream, you know that what you experience in it has to do with what you think of at the time. If you are flying over water in a lucid dream and you think Loch Ness Monster, it starts rising up out of the waves. So I guess if a rebel eats food and thinks this is just a bunch of code then it doesn't taste good no matter what the Matrix tries to make it taste like.

Seems to me that experiencing things in the Matrix could be a lot more fun or a lot worse than a pod person depending on how focused the rebel's mind is on creating a pleasant/fantasy experience. Maybe that's why Neo, Trin and Morph declined the food that the Merovingian offered them. They are very truth focused so it would taste like crap to them. Cypher, on the other hand, enjoyed his steak because he wanted to be fooled by the Matrix.

The thing is, just like you said, if you believe it then it becomes real. So if they are not focused and they believe that what they are seeing, touching, feeling, eating is real, then they will get the illusion that it is real. So they will eat something and taste something, because they believe that it is all actually real.

I don't think they would be completely seperated from the matrix. After all they have to hack into it to do stuff. The same rules would apply once they connected to that world. It's just that not being plugged directly into the matrix gives the rebels a little more freedom. After all, they can still die.

The matrix has you...
