Sparks: "And for the record, when I cart your bodies back to Zion, do you prefer cremation or the gardens?"
Ghost: "Sparks, your faith in us remains a source of personal inspiration."
Sparks: "Well, I am what I am and I do what I can."

Before the DVD-boxset comes out, I want to share all my theories with you in this one comprehensive thread...

General theory about the Matrix

The first Matrix failed because it was 'boring' and also was forced upon our minds.

The second Matrix failed not because it was not realisticly, but because it was still forced upon our minds.

The third Matrix functions because we have the choice (a subconsious one for most people) to accept it or not.
Luckily for the machine-world, most people want to accept the 'comforting' life that the Matrix offers. Just a very small part of the humans (about 1%) do not want to accept it. They question life and finally (mostly consious, because they are intelligent and spiritually more aware) choose to deny the Matrix. Now these people are the ones that are called the systemic anomaly.

Now a little more about the third installment of the Matrix...

The entire Matrix is build upon rational rules. The new concept of choice which was introduced by the Oracle functions much longer but it is not without problems. Most people will accept the Matrix, because they like the 'easy' way. At least they were given the choice to stop or go on with this 'easy' life, so (subconsiously) they already feel like a 'God' over their own lifes. This is why the new Matrix version works.

The problem lies within the coding. The program does not know what to do with data that is refused. Refusing a program does not fit into the concept of rationality. Humans that refuse the program are just like exiled programs. They deny their purpose inside the Matrix and this upsets the equation.

I will give you an 'easy' example of what I mean:
Did you ever had a message from the operating system "Windows" on your screen that warned you that the swap-file was full and that some programs might not work correctly when they need the swap-file?

When a program inside "Windows" claims some of the swap-file and it gets 'no' for an answer, then the program could hang, crash or act weird/unstable.

The same is with the Matrix. Each 'no' is upsetting the equation. The non-accepters are only a very small portion of all the humans, so the system can bare it for a while. But a remainder will be produced; the equation sees no logic in these happenings and the remainder is a fact.

Now if the machines would let the equation do it's thing, then after a while the entire Matrix would crash. The remainder becomes too dominant and the equation breaks down.

But the system gets a little help (from the Architect and the Oracle). The remainder is summed up into a variable: the One. He is truly the sum of non-acceptence, because he can say 'no' to every rule in the Matrix and can act like a god.

When the One is born, the remainder has a 'name'; the remainder has become an isolated variable which the system can counter-attack with the emergence of the Anti One.

By nature the system will pick the main agent. Agents were chasing non-accepters/exiles/rebels their entire lifes. So who would be most suitable for the job? Who should be the best at taking on the sum of non-acceptence? Yes indeed, the most driven agent of them all.

Smith is the sum of rationality which forces humanity to make a choice: either accept the program or die! Neo is the sum of irrationality, the 'spokesperson' for humanity.
Smith is coursing into a crash.
Neo can make the choice: either go with this crash or reload (I prefer saying: integrate himself with) the Matrix.
How would Smith cause a crash? Quite simple I think. Smith is forcing himself upon the people inside the Matrix. He does quite the same thing as agents normally do, only he can do it in multiple form. Each human being inside the Matrix is a variable inside the mathematical course that the Matrix offers. So when Smith literally 'posesses' a human, he takes over this variable. Smith can speak for this variable and say "no" to the Matrix. And guess what happens when alot of variables inside the equation say "no" to the Matrix...Yes indeed, it is cataclysmicly crashed just like what happened with the first two major versions of the Matrix.

When Neo, as the sum of irrational disobedience, chooses the righthand door, he says "yes" to the program again and compensates the remainder that was caused by the non-accepters.

But Neo says "no" to the program. So that's where his function ends and that's where he really breaks free from the Matrix.

So I think that Neo did want to accept the Matrix at first. His life of 'loner' and 'questioner of life' was layed upon him by the Architect. Neo's life was planned, because the Architect says: "your life is the sum..."
It was all part of the plan to let Neo be freed, but did he want this himself? Subconsiously not, because we see all the time that he sees his new role as a huge burden. He accepts it out of social considerations, but he isn't fully inspired.

Neo's first real "no" towards the Matrix was in the Architect's room and that is where he really broke free from the system.
I think this scene also was symbolically about awareness. The problem is choice; most people make the choice on a subconsious and ignorant level; Neo made the choice at a very consious level.

Now what Neo did at the end of M3, was 'giving' the system a solution in order to deal with irrationality.
By making an irrational choice, he rationally cleaned out the system.
The point is, although it's hard to describe, that Neo was entirely free from the system. He made his final choice at the Architect, so for the system he was definitely considered as an irrational non-accepter, as an illegal variable.

But Neo goes back into this system and by choice he yet decides to help the system (and also Zion offcourse).

So Neo was an irrational/illegal variable who yet made a rational decision for the system. This unique happening implements a code-set into the machine-world that can cope with irrational matters.

Symbolically, while Jezus died to take away our sins from the past and in the future, Neo died to take away our non-acceptence from the past and in the future. Neo's code-set lives on in the Source and has become that 'swap-file' where the system can 'store' data that was not accepted by it's participants.

This doesn't mean the anomaly is over. I think that the machine-world is still not free from the rational-versus-irrational issue (hence the dialogue between the Architect and the Oracle), but the Matrix-system is freed from it. Anyone or any program can enter or leave it without any (mathematical) problems.

EDIT on july 15th 2005

Before I can elaborate on Mobil Ave, I first need to share my headplug-theory with you...

As you all know, a person's Residual Self-Image (RSI) appears when they plug into a virtual environment.
This RSI is not and cannot be produced by the mind itself. If this would be the case, then every rebel can appear in the Matrix as each person or each 'thing' they would like. Because the RSI looks identical to the appearence in the Real World, I am sure that this code is somehow linked to the DNA-stucture of the person. As each person's DNA-code is unique, this also makes the digital version of it unique. So the RSI is an unique code-set that indentifies each person as a variable in the Matrix-environment.

The RSI projects them naked. The fancy clothes they wear are added inside the contruct of the ship's computer. Or they are given the type of clothes that are default to the simulation-program they enter. This is what happened to Neo when he entered Mobil Ave; he didn't use the construct of a ship there, he just went into there with a 'raw' connection. So they gave him the taste of clothes of the ultimate master that is responsible for Mobil Ave: the Merovingian. Just look at Neo's outfit; it's not exactly the same as the Merovingian but it approaches it very much.

...

When the rebels enter a virtual world, they can only wake up to their real-world-consiousness again by unloading the program from their mind. Their mind 'thinks' that the five senses (eyes, nose, ears, etc.) are active inside the Matrix. If they would suddenly pull the plug without unloading first, the person would experience this as if his five senses are abruptly cutt off and he will become braindead in a very short while.

In the contruct the unloading is easy. The operator just unloads a (training)program and the plug can be pulled.
In the Matrix this is not easy; the Matrix is huge and cannot be unloaded itself. So the rebel has to be unloaded from the Matrix himself; this is done by using a hacked phone-line: the exits
When the rebel answers the phone, his RSI is succesfully transfered to the construct of the ship. The construct is free from other programs and the plug can be savely removed. My theory on this is proven in the game "Enter the Matrix": when Niobe used a hardline to get out of the Matrix, we see the construct of the ship again.

I used to think that the RSI is stored in the headplug at all times, but I think this is not the case anymore. In the Animatrix, the kid Karl Popper falls down death on the ground and yet his body in the Real World survives. His RSI never had a chance to return to the headplug, because it was burried under the ground.

So I now think that the RSI is generated each time either by a small convertor that implies the DNA into an unique code or by a neurological pattern inside the brain itself.
I will elaborate on the last phenonamon I mentioned. When Neo gets the training programs uploaded into his mind in M1, the digital information of the martial arts is converted/adapted into a permanent neural network inside his brain. So it could be that the structure of his RSI is also neuralized in some part of his brain.

So, conclusively, there's no code residing in the headplug when someone is awake in the Real World. That's the reason why Neo cannot detect Trinity in the Logos. So how come he can detect Bane then?

Well Bane's RSI was extended by the program Smith; Smith unloaded himself through the phone-line and was transferred to the construct of the ship. When they pulled Bane's plug, Smith was still present in the headplug. The program Smith was added to Bane's RSI, to Bane's consiousness. So there was no way to unload it; when they pulled the plug, Smith was still there.
So the program Smith is inside the headplug, triggering commands at Bane's brain all the time. So in a way, Bane himself is still 'plugged in' to a program, only it's a hostile program that equals posession and hacks the brain.
Now, because the program Smith originated from the Source and because it is active inside Bane's headplug, Neo can 'sense' him. I will get back on Neo's powers in the Real World later on. If you want to read more on my thoughts on the Smith/Bane situation then click here:

matrix-explained.com...

Now onto Mobil Ave...

My old theory, scroll further to read my new theory

When Neo connected himself to the Sentinels, his mind (and thus also his RSI) was used. He was unprepared for this so he was shocked by the Source and the Source absorbed him. Neo had to return to the Source in order to reload/reset the Matrix. Now that Neo is absorbed by the Source, the Source cannot use him for the reload because Neo doesn't want this. He didn't choose to touch the Source in order to reload the Matrix, but he touched it in order to protect his lover and friends.

As the entire Matrix-system is based upon the principle of choice, Neo has to agree out of free will to reload the Matrix and he does not want this. So the Source has an unconvential problem. It cannot use Neo for the reload, so it can either kill him or put him to some use.
As you must know by now, a great deal of the machine-world is eager for irrationality (just look at the 'conflict' between the Oracle and the Architect, typical irrational versus rational); this reflects the Source, as the Source is the centre of the machine-world. So the rational consiousness wants to eliminate Neo and get over with the humans altogether, but the irrational consiousness wants to move on: "the only way to get there is together".

So what happens is that Neo is transferred to Mobil Ave, which is technically the gateway/firewall to the Matrix. The irrational consiousness of the Source 'hopes' that Neo can still provide for a solution and puts him as close to the Matrix as he can get.

As the Source assumed that Neo was returning to the Source, it absorbed him entirely: his RSI and also his lifetime-memories. Just another simple alteration was needed to make a stand-alone AI-program out of Neo: they had to give him a memory-structure...
As you know all the information from and to the Matrix goes through the brain, where the RSI is merely a converter between the digital world and the physical brain. No memories can be stored by the RSI, because all the experiences get passed on to the brain. So the only thing that the Source has to do in order to make him a program is to replace the brain with a digital memory structure. Maybe also some other alterations are needed in order to make Neo feel things as a program, without the aid of his physical brain.
As you know the machine-world already produces programs that are very humanlike, so it is easy to assume that they could alter Neo into a 100% pure program too.

Neo 'hacked' the Source with his RSI. As I told you before, the RSI projects them naked without the help of a construct. So the Source also gives him clothes; clothes that belong to angels. That's why Neo's outfit in Mobil Ave has so much resemblence with the Merovingian's outfit in the restaurant; The Merovingian (seen as Lucifer) is a fallen angel.

So two factors kept Neo alive:

1) The irrational consiousness of the machine-world that still wanted Neo to complete a purpose.
"You touched the Source, but you weren't ready for it" - The Oracle.
This bluntly means that he returned to the Source (which every program must do when it's purpose is furfilled), but he wasn't ready for it yet; he still had some purpose to furfill.

2) "You should be dead, but apparantly you weren't ready for that either" - The Oracle
His body was kept alive by the love for Trinity. He was suddenly unplugged when the Sentinels went dead, so this is comparable to what happened to Apoc and Switch in M1. Yet Neo was so eager to live that his brain keeps seeking for a signal, hence Maggie sees the patterns on the screen.

This is all confusing ain't it? Well here it is again in short:

-He touched the Source without care
-The Source absorbed him
-The Source recognized his code
-The Source could not use him for the reload, because the reload has to happen by choice (the whole Matrix runs on this principal)
-The Source alters his code and assimilates him into an AI-program
-The Source dumps him in Mobil Ave, the gate to the Matrix
-The Source 'hopes' that he will return to the Matrix in order to face/destroy Smith

Now what's the whole use of Mobil Ave? It is needed in order for Neo to have compassion for programs. Neo's goal was to help the humans in the war with the machines. But the meeting at Mobil Ave makes him realize that programs deserve respect, compassion and understanding too.

Add to this that Neo is a program himself down there! He experiences the event as an AI-program and so he senses that there is not much difference compared to his human existence. The love connection is spotted instantly by Rama and the kiss from Trinity feels very genuine too.

When Link doesn't recognize Neo on the screen, this also indicates that Neo's form is different: a true AI-program (thanks to the forum-user "Apocryphe" for convincing me to turn to this theory).

When Neo uses a phone-line, he is unloaded from the Matrix and the experiences he absorbed there are all uploaded into his physical brain (just like the kung-fu-stuff in M1); that's why he wakes up 'shocked'.

The end of my old theory

My new theory

On the website of "Matrix Online" you can read about many exiles that had escaped from the Source to the Matrix in order to avoid deletion. This probably happened via the 'illegal' trainstation.

Neo directly came into contact with the Source when he was confronted with the Sentinels.
Now rationally viewed, Neo should have been deleted there. He made the choice at the Architect and for the rational machines it was clear: the Matrix had failed again and Neo had no purpose anymore.

But Neo didn't want to be deleted. He wanted to go back because his gut told him he wasn't ready yet (let alone he wanted to f*ck Trin again Wink ). So before the connection with the Sentinels was broken, Neo's mind rushed away from the Source into the 'quarantained' trainstation.

Here his RSI went to sleep because the connection with his physical brain was lost.

When Neo was inside the Hammer, his brain and headplug were very close to the broadcasting signal with the Matrix and via this way the connection between his physical brain and his digital RSI was re-established; that's the moment when we see Neo wake up and Sati greets him.

Neo didn't enter the trainstation via a contruct, so there was no option for him to upload his regular clothes.

The trainstation is owned by the Merovingian (with the Trainman as the administrator), so by default a naked RSI gets added 'Merovingian-like-clothes' (like I already mentioned above).

The reason why Link doesn't recognize Neo's code on the screen has to do with the state of Neo's enlightment. The color and essence of a digital code changes when you achieve more enlightment.
In this respect the RSI is symbolizes as the aura. When you have a light green or a golden aura, you have achieved more enlightment. White is the ultimate aura-'color' for full enlightment and black (Smith seems to have this) is very negative and represents total ignorance.

The end of my new theory
End of EDIT on july 15th 2005

The program family

Why was the program family exactly at Mobil Ave at the right time? I think this was the Oracle's doings...
When she talked to Neo in the park, she really started to believe that Neo might achieve a change. Then her intuition told her that it might be needed to show Neo what programs are all about. I think she contacts Rama right after the conversation in the park.

When Neo goes to meet the Merovingian in the restaurant, we see that Rama is carried away from the Merovingian. It's quite easy to assume that the meeting with the Merovingian happened shortly after Neo's meeting with the Oracle. So this indicates that the Oracle did put things in motion with Rama and Kamala. Maybe something like: "you can make your love-baby now, I am ready to adopt it" Smile

Symbolism

There is alot of symbolism hidden in Mobil Ave. Both huge links to Christianity and Budhism. It's absolutely brilliant!
Regarding Budhism it is mostly about Neo's seventh re-incarnation and regarding Christianity it is mostly about Jezus going to Limbo.
I will stick mostly to reason and technical details in my theories here. You can read more about my symbolism thoughts in this thread:

matrix-explained.com...

Why was Neo powerless against the Trainman?

That's because Neo is not an (integral) anomaly down there. Mobil Ave is a different program/simulation than the Matrix. It has different rules and Neo's code-set is not an anomolous variable down there. So he cannot break any rule, he can only obey the rules of the Trainman.
Neo can still see that Rama and Kamala are programs ("Neo-vison"), but this is not dependant on him breaking the rules anymore. This is because he now has a full-grown connection with the machine-world and sees/feels all of it's structures.

Very polite of you to aks this.
This is a free forum and you can reply whenever you wish. But maybe it's more interesting to wait untill I finish my entire theory. Then you can bomb away at it and we can discuss it Smile

There won't be so many sections anymore. I am still thinking about how to describe the theory I have on Neo's powers in the Real World. I will get back on this as soon as I can.

I think a lot of the ideas you present are in fact reflective of what the trilogy is actually about. Mainly, I agree wholeheartly with your (unstated) assertion that everything in the matrix is a program, or at least thats the overall tone that I get from your posts. See my post under the matrix within a matrix forum/thread. I think I can further distill what youre saying by addressing the true nature of Neo, I havent found a thread that truly addresses just him, and that surprises me. I make the assertion that Neo is not human at all in the physical sense. That is to say, the trilogy is based on the fact that humans are inserted into the matrix at birth, vis a vis pods that in turn make up fields to use human voltage output for power in the absence of any after a presumed nuclear holocaust. These humans have physical bodies to go with their virtual presence in the matrix, and their presence in the matrix is predicated on the existence of a human body in the real world to go along with it. However, it is my contention that Neo is a program inserted into the matrix by a yet to be discussed agent, posing as a real human being. (If you doubt this, ask yourself, What are the Agents? And what is Agent Smith, before his change?) This program is most likely an AI program specifically designed to mimic completely a human in every aspect, and the notion is made even more delicious (and very important to his nature and ultimate purpose/function) by the fact that he is completely unaware of it at least at first. You see numerous clues in the plot attesting to this, mainly but not limited to his numerous conversations with the oracle. A specific example that stands out to me is in the 3rd installment near the very end where he needs to see the Oracle a last time. The very nature of his questions to her and her responses smacks entirely of a realization on his part that he is a machine program. If you doubt this, watch this scene again (along with the others with her and him) and pay close attention to what is said. I cant distill it down here, it would take too long. But this is definitely what I got from the plot. Now, along with a lot of other questions, one springs to my mind: Who would insert this kind of program into the matrix and WHY? more on that later I think....

Neo's powers in the Real World

I think his powers in the Real World are hard to explain, because this is more at an abstract-level; you either understand it or not.

I understand it like this...

The headplug is like an antenna which sends broadcasting information in two directions. The headplug doesn't have to be connected tightly to a pin, just as with tv-cables. When you put two pins from a tv-cable close to each other without really connecting them, you already can see a signal on the screen.

Now try to see the people of Zion as cellular phones and Zero One as the telecomunnications-provider.
I think that the people in Zion are still monitored by the machines. The chip inside their headplug indentifies them as unique and the machines send a small signal each time in order to see where some of the important people are hanging out.

The machines can also still manipulate people that are freed from the Matrix. They can send data packages that are subconsiously adapted by the brain with the help of the headplug. This is not programming really; well in fact it is, but it is at a very subconsious level. It is like feeding the people with 'intuition'. Like giving them the subconsious feeling in their gut that something is going to happen.

I think this happened when Cypher shot Tank. You see a strange look on Cypher's face, like he is saying: "hmm that's weird, why didn't I hit him fatally?". It was like if an invisible energy wanted him to fail.

Also think about the Kid Karl Popper preventing Bane from stabbing Neo by bringing the spoon. Karl also seems to 'feel' Neo when he is close to him (Trinity: "How does he always know?").

Also think about the loyal support that councelor Hamman gives Morpheus; Hamman has a headplug too.

Also think about Neo waking up, the moment when Smith 'hacks' Bane.

Also think about the fact that the machines knew exactly where to go in order to attack a ship just in time to make Trinity go into the Matrix. It's all being plannend and calculated.

This all implies that there is still some sort of network in the Real World that keeps them connected to each other and allows the machines to monitor and manipulate them when needed.

The reason why Neo can manipulate machines in the Real World is that Neo has enlightened his mind. He has discovered what it's all about when he visited the Architect.
After this visit he knows it all; he knows that the One was meant to survive, so that Sentinels would never truly have killed him in the past. Neo now knows that the equation expands beyond the Matrix; that they are still not truly free in Zion; still slaves to the machines and serving some purpose.

Only when Neo has denied his rational purpose at the Architect's room, the Sentinels are send in to truly kill him and the Neb-crew.
Neo has outserved his function, so he is no longer usefull to the machines. They want to kill him just like they went to destroy Zion as a whole.

So Neo is aware that there is some connection in the Real World too, so he starts to feel the Sentinels. He starts to sense the invisible broadcasting network that reigns among the Real World.

But why can he overrule the Sentinels? Well that's not so hard I think...

I am going to talk about compiling source-code now. For most of you this will be difficult to understand, because it is about computer science. Before I will go on, I will explain shortly what source-code is...

Source-code is the language a program was written in. When the writing of the program is done, a compiler is used to 'convert' the source-code into an active program.

So the operating system "Windows" as you know it was first written in source-code and later on compiled into the form as you know it in everyday-life. The source-code is kept at the developer and it is mostly secret (although "Microsoft" is releasing more and more source-code into the public in order to concur with other operating systems like Linux).

I think Neo's headplug contains source code. Inside the chip that converts his DNA to an RSI (see my headplug-theory above) there is a source-code that compiles Neo's code-set each time he plugs in. Inside this source-code is also the code-set that makes Neo valid as 'The One'.
This confirms what the Architect says: "your life is the sum..."
When Neo was put inside a pod, the source-code was inserted into his headplug and within this code was his function as the One.

Now also my general theory about the Matrix is more clear...
When a human is living inside the Matrix, his life is being programmed. This interactive program origins from the Source, which provides the source-code for the interactive life. But when such a person chooses to deny the program, the stream of source-code suffers from fluctuations. Now all these fluctuations inside the source-code itself are summed up into the integral anomaly also known as 'The One'.

An extra symbolic description for the computer-nerds among us:

You can see the Matrix as a multi-tasking program which is continuesly being compiled. Each time new human lifes enter the Matrix, so the source-code never stops compiling. When a human denies the program, the compiler continues compiling but it gives a warning that the circumstances were not optimal. Now when more people deny the Matrix, the compiler warnings will increase and finally the compiler will stop compiling because of an error. When the compiling would stop, the Matrix would crash cataclysmicly.

The Oracle says:
"The power of the One extends from here all they way where it came from: the Source"

Neo's code-set indeed came from the Source as source-code. So this gives Neo the power to manipulate even at source-code level.

Neo has enlightened himself. He has expended his powers to a higher stage, to a higher consiousness. He now knows that his origin came form a higher power.

So when a machine is upclose, Neo can use his headplug to emit his unique code and then manipulate the machine with his mind.

So why can he only take on a few Sentinels and not a whole army at once?

I think this has two reasons: a physical one and a technical one.

Physical:

The machine-network is an enormous flow of energy. Neo simply cannot stay connected and keep 'attacking' machines with his mind. This will exhaust him greatly and finally kill him.

Technical:

There is a technique in computer science that is used to analyze a program back to it's source-code: reverse engineering. For example that you would try to make source-code out of the program "Winamp" again.

This is almost impossible. But it can be done for a bit. You can discover parts of the Source code with hard work, but you can never retrieve the entire source-code.

I think this is also the case with Neo. He enlightened himself; went deeper within his symbolic soul, within his source-code. But he will never be able to understand and use his entire source-code. That's the reason why his manipulative powers in the Real World stay to a minimum.

At first I believed that Neo saw the above-lying structure of the machine-world when he visited the Architect. He was absorbed by the bright white light, which I assumed was the Source. I am not sure now if that was the Source, it could also be another construct which was loading up the Architect's chamber. Anyhow, I first thought that Neo could hack the machines in the Real World, because he has seen the above-lying structure that sits above the Matrix. I thought that when a hacker (which Neo is) spends some time in a system, it gains knowledge about it and is able to hack it later on.

Now I think this was not the case. Neo didn't consiously learn anything new. Or else we would have said: "hey guys, I saw the structure of the machine-network. I think I might be able to hack some Sentinels now!"

I now think that Neo just has to 'think' with his mind in order to stop the Sentinels. He in fact said it himself: "How did I stop four Sentinels just by thinking it?"

His anomolous code allows Neo to break all the rules with his mind. So just by thinking that they should die, they will. This is because Neo is allowed to by his code-set.

Think about it, he does not do any real hacking when he breaks the rules within the Matrix. He does it all by using his (freed) mind.

Now because the anomolous code is only ment for functioning inside the Matrix, Neo's powers won't work in places like Mobil Ave. Yet they will work in the Real World just for the reason I explained above. Neo has enlightened himself; he has become more in touch with his symbolical soul, his source-code that is deep within. Since he was created by the Source, he is also allowed to manipulate the network. Only at a much minor scale, because the Source is much more greater than the Matrix and it is not a simulation in which the mind can do what it wants. It's raw code/energy where Neo can only tap into for a while.

So now you might be thinking...why didn't he use that power to eliminate the Mobil Ave machine? He simply couldn't! He was trapped inside there. I think he might be able to destroy the machine with his mind, but since he himself is inside there as software, he will also destroy himself.

Sorry, that was alot of info. I tried to describe it as clear as I could.

I too agree with 90% of what you say. My 10%, or maybe even 1% still revolves around whether neo is truly human or not. Everything else you say makes complete sense, especially the parts about how neo can manipulate the code within the matrix at will because he understands the Source. My little stopper though is how can Neo can stop sentinels in the supposed "real world", ie the caves above Zion. I understand your postulates about his physical nature, the headplugs, the RSI and such things, but they just don't seem to jive with whats in the movies themselves...Neo by all appearances out of the matrix is a completely normal human, no different than Trinity, Morpheus, Niobi, etc. Nothing that occurs in any of the three episodes has ever led me to believe that he was physically different than any of the other characters, at least on the surface. There are no clues given in the episodes that differentiate Neos physical nature from any of the other characters. If what you are saying about him is true than, why cant any of the other characters do what he does? They all carry the RSI, the headplugs, they experience the matrix AND the real world exactly the same way Neo does. SO, why is he different?

So all this leads to my question, and if you can answer it plausibly, I'll buy you a coke. Heck, two cokes...

at the end of the 2nd episode, the main characters have all supposedly jacked OUT of the matrix...we see them in the hovercraft (sorry, cant remember the name, I know, I dont pay enough attention to the details) talking about why the war hasnt ended after Neo's return from the oracle. BUT, we never see them actually jacked out! One minute Neo's saving trinitys life, the next hes standing there in the hull of the ship. And trinity was definitely plugged in, they showed a scene with her jacked in and then out. But thats not the weird part...the sentinels chase after the main characters (in the "real" world), Neo stops them with his mind, goes into the coma, end of episode 2. Now, heres where it gets weird for me, and an explanation is required. Episode 3 starts with a little scene where theyre trying to find Niobis ship, no big deal. scene cuts to Neo and bane in a coma, and then Morpheus is asking the operator to check the matrix for Neo. Fine, I kindof thought since we didnt see Neo jack out, theyre going to find his signature in the matrix, bam, Neo is jacking in remotely...BUT, they DONT find it...he's NOT in there! Cut to next scene, maggie says neo is exhibiting neural signs of being jacked IN. Contradictions abound...seraph calls morpheus, right back into the matrix they go. cut to Neo, stuck in Mobil ave. Cut to Oracle, Morpheus and trinity. blah, blah, blah, they finish talking, lots of other stuff happens, lets just cut to the chase. Trinity takes the train to Neo, they kiss, He visits the Oracle a last time. Why? Obviously cuz he NEEDS the Oracle to tell him his true nature, why he can do the things he does. I think this conversation is one of the most important parts in the movie, but its not whats causing the problem for me. You see Bane wake up, then what do you see? Trinity JACKING NEO OUT. How the hell is that possible? Was Neo jacked in when they were talking on the hovercraft? And how the bejesus does he see the sentinels in the supposedly "real" world if hes freaking jacked into the matrix? How is it possIble that hes crawling through the caves below the surface world if he is jacked into the matrix? Hell, how does anything between the time Neo sees the architect and the last scene I just mentioned happen unless...THE TWO WORLDS ARE ONE AND THE SAME. Neo is no different in the MATRIX, than he is in the "REAL" world, which I'm going to stop calling the real world here real soon. If I'm right, then logically Neo MUST be a program, and not human. Heck, why is he shown jacking out? Cuz, He knows that in order to satisfy the program that governs the boundary between the matrix and the underworld he MUST satisfy the equation right? (the trainman, merovingian, so forth) So, he CREATES this event. If he was human with the power to affect the matrix so fundamentally, he wouldnt do something like that....only a program would do something like that.

Feel free to blast away...

Yes Neo is, physically speaking, a human like any other. THe powers he has are all about access. To simplify, you can see the Matrix as network, and the administrator has privileges because he knows how to control the system (passwords etc.).
Neo has been given the knowledge on how to have these privilege, except that the Matrix will accept the orders only if they come from him or Smith. In fact, you can consider Neo's mind as a huge and unique password/key that the Matrix accept as being from the highest level of power, because of the flaw in the equation.

I don't know if Mobil will agree with that ? I don't want to spoil your thread Smile

Yes I agree Smile

I would prefer to call it a 'key' instead of a password. Neo's unique code indentifies him as a variable inside the Matrix that is allowed to break rules.

All the unwanted fluctuations are summed up into this variable. With Neo they are giving the fluctuations an identification ("integral anomaly"), a name ("The One") and a function ("return to the Source").

So in fact it is a method that gives the NOT-accepted data still a valid function.

Neo must return to the Source by choice, because that is what gives balance; well at least for a while Smile
The non-accepters denied the Matrix by choice, so this 'error' also has to be corrected by choice. Because Neo is a summed-value, only one counter-choice is needed.

In short:

a lot of non-accepters by choice <---> the sum of these accepts again by choice

When Neo would have entered the righthand door, then he would in fact have been a 'mathematical Jezus'. He would have washed away (corrected) the unbalance that was caused by the non-accepters (sinners in the eyes of rationality).

The reason why Neo can also use some powers in the Real World is because he has become more in touch with the Source(code) from which his special code was compiled.

Smith and how he was detroyed

Who is Smith?
Smith is just as much part of 'The One' as Neo is.

Smith is the system fighting Neo with everything it can...

Agents are designed to act against known non-accepters (like the Kid Karl Popper), exiles and rebels that enter the Matrix. Everything or anyone that is considered as an anomaly is being attacked by the system with the help of the agents.

The agents are an integral part of the system and they were originally created by the Architect.
The Architect designs one agent as the smarter leader of the threesome.

The anomalies are causing more and more distortions in the system and the agents are not able to deal with them all.
But then the systemic anomaly is summed up into one variable by the Architect: Neo, the One, the integral anomaly.

Now the system recognizes the systemic anomaly as one variable and launches an immense counter-attack on it.

It all begins with the merging of Neo and Smith; this is a very natural and inevitable happening...

The Oracle made sure that Neo and Smith would cross each other's path. Smith, as the leader of the pack, gets so frustrated about Neo's resurrection that he keeps attacking him full of anger. The other two agents are just mindless pawns. They just follow their leader and don't really care much. Smith sees himself responsable for the fighting against the anomalies and he wishes to succeed and then find rest and piece. But then Neo takes away Smith's illusion that he ever might find rest. So Smith explodes into frustration and keeps coming for Neo. Now Neo knows that kicking him or killing him won't stop him; he would just use another innocent host and try again. So what Neo does is try to 'hack' him and make him silent forever.

So what I am trying to say here is that it was inevitable for Neo and Smith to join together. It's a natural cause-and-effect-event, because Neo is still part of the plan at that moment.

When Neo hacks Smith, some of the code was copied onto him. So Neo actually provides the system with an anti-variable.

Now from this point on, Smith is being used by the system just as Neo is. Neo is being used a stooge who has to return to the Source in order to fix the equation and Smith is a stooge that is being used to fight Neo and force him into submission, as Smith is going to be the one that is going to make the Matrix crash (see my general theory on the Matrix above).

They both think that they have a personal purpose. Neo thinks that he is fighting for the freedom of the people and Smith thinks that he is fighting for his personal freedom. Yet they are still functioning for the system.

Now what Neo does is denying all the rules of the program. He can break all the rules by using his mind.

What Smith does is not denying all the rules of the program. No, he USES all the rules on a wide scale to try and beat Neo. Sounds weird? Read on...

Thanks to Neo's anomoulous addition to Smith's code he is now able to bend his morphing rule. Now is Smith really breaking the rules? No he is not. Agents are able to posess humans. Only Smith cannot use the network of the agents anymore. So he now does it by a direct connection. He grabs the humans and forces himself upon them. But because of he is not limited by the agent-network anymore, he can now also possess programs too. He can possess programs that govern the birds, the wind, the weather, the gravity, etc.

That's why we see a wind breezing when Neo is in the alley at the beginning of M2. That is Smith using the program that controls the wind.

Why does Smith suddenly appear in the park in the middle of all the birds? Just look closely: Smith's feet are very close to the birds and the birds are startled by it. Normally, birds would fly away earlier when they see someone approaching. Smith was hiding as a bird and then suddenly appeared to confront Neo.

Also think about this:
Smith is copying himself like crazy. So why did nobody inside the Matrix or some of the rebels ever notice this? When you see a group of Smiths walking around the streets, this would most definitely raise questions.

This is because Smith is keeping a low-profile. He is hiding. When Smith takes over a human, he can appear with their original RSI at will.
What matters is the program Smith. His appearance is just a 'front-end' that he needs to interact with others.

When Smith has taken over the Oracle, he gets to know more about the Matrix and how to use it's programs. He finds out how to use the program that governs gravity.

That's why Smith is able to fly in the super burly brawl. He is not breaking the rules of gravity like Neo is doing; he is USING the program that governs the gravity and he uses the program that governs the wind to let him make smooth turns when he is in mid-air.
At that point Smith has also taken over the program that governs the weather: "do you like what I have done with the place?"
This quote kinda proofs that he cannot only take over humans, but also all sorts of programs that govern the Matrix.

So what I am trying to say here is that we have a true pair of opposites...

Neo is breaking all the program-rules.
Smith is using all the programs in order to counter Neo.

In M1 Morpheus said that the humans who still accept the program were willing to fight for the system. Smith is using all these people now and these people are literally fighting for the system (in the form of Smith offcourse). Smith is just as strong as Neo in the super burly brawl, because he uses the strength from the other Smiths; he uses the strenght and knowlegde he got from all the people he assimilated. And as you know: knowlegde equals power. So symbolically we have another pair of opposites: The One versus the Many.

Even another pair of opposites is recognizable:

Neo can be a superman by the enlightment of his mind: by spirituality.
Smith can be a superman by using other people and programs: by materialism.

Now how was Smith destroyed?
He could only be destroyed if Neo was too, because Neo is not 'the One'; both Neo and Smith together are 'the One'.

The Prophecy from the Oracle was never a lie. It was the truth! But only when you consider Neo and Smith as 'the One'.

A few quotes from the Prophecy (from Morpheus and the Oracle):

The One would be able to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Matrix as he saw fit.

Neo cannot change whatever he wants. He can only break the rules and move a few objects (like bullets and weapons). Smith however can change things like the weather.

the Oracle prophesized his return and that his coming would hail the destruction of the Matrix

Smith will cause the destruction of the Matrix. So if you count in Smith as being part of 'the One', then this is also true.

The Oracle: Then Zion will fall. Our time is up. Listen to me, Neo. You can save Zion if you reach The Source

When we see both Neo and Smith as 'the One', then this is not a lie either. Thanks to Neo both he and Smith returned to the Source: the real 'One' returned to the Source. And what happened? Zion was indeed saved, like the Oracle said!

The Oracle also says this about Smith: "He is you!"

Then Smith is 'the One' too; only he is Neo's Freudian destructive side. The side of Neo that rather wants to die than accept the slavery of the Matrix. Neo himself is the human that still has hope and that is wiling to fight for humanity: "because I choose to"

Now when Neo and Smith join together, they solve each other. Positive and negative merged together gives us a zero-value. Now the Source assimilates this value and spreads it through the Matrix by using Neo as a portal (the big white light). Smith, as the negative, cannot exist without his positive so they are all wiped out from the Matrix.

Now I would like to finish off with a sidenote...
Why does Smith call the Oracle mom and in return she calls him a bastard?

That's because the Architect is the father of both Neo and Smith. The Architect created the agents as part of the Matrix-system and he assigned the sum of the systemic anomaly to Neo.

The Oracle is the mother of Neo and Smith because she manipulated their path and made sure they would collide with each other.

Thanks to Smith Neo died and became 'the One'.
Thanks to Neo Smith died and became 'the Anti One'.

As Smith needed the help of Neo to become the 'Anti One' (his code that is), he is a bastard and Neo is pure.

Now this was my entire Matrix-theory.
I talked about all the main and important subjects. If you feel that I missed something then feel free to tell me or ask me about it.

I will not talk about the Merovingian and Seraph, because it would be alot of assuming and most of their meaning is also symbolically meant.

I want to thank the forum-user "Apocryphe" for ginving me knew ideas and angles that I implemented into my theories.

EDIT
Just before someone is going to ask about the Oracle's role in Smith's destruction...

The Oracle had no control over Smith when he said: "Everything that has a beginning, has an end Neo" . The reason why he says 'Neo' instead of Mr. Anderson is because he is exactly repeating the Oracle's vision. Smith is too ignorant to interprete her vision on his own. So that's why he says it like the Oracle would and this gives Neo a last hint.
The Oracle couldn't 'see' any further than Neo just lying there, because even she cannot see beyond the end. Both Neo and Smith were equally strong and the outcome was not to be calculated. She could only believe! It would have gone wrong when Neo wouldn't have made it to the Machine-city and he would have fought Smith while being plugged in on a rebel-ship.

EDIT 2
I wrote more about Smith's destruction a few posts below this one!

Whaaa dude, that was a very good sum-up. I agree with nearly all of your last post (and thanks for crediting me btw, I learnt as much with you thanks to your corrections Wink).

However, when you said that Neo and Smith were on the same level in the superbrawl... I don't know, i was feeling like Neo was going to lose, not you ?
I mean, Neo was exhausted while Smith is a program, he can fight nights and days. Neo was going to loose, one day or another, no ?

Yes agreed. I think that Smith uses the power of all the minds that he assimilated, so in the long end he would get tired also. On a materialistic level Smith was stronger than Neo. But on a spiritual level Neo was much stronger than Smith.

You can compare it to real life too. If you are an anomaly you come across alot of bureaucratic pencil-pushers. It will tire you out because you will always have to fight alone against the mass. But if you keep thinking positively, then spiritually you will always overcome the ignorant bastards Smile

Smith would have lost in any situation. When he copies himself onto Neo, the Source has him!

The Oracle couldn't see past her own choice because she didn't understand it. She made the choice out of faith and not out of knowledge.

Well, actually Smith had no choice, since according to me he cannot survive if Neo dies (because of their connection). So he had to copy him, he had no choice.

In fact, the wise solution for Smith would have been to emprison Neo in a construct, but his vanity pushed him to copy Neo.

Very good, I agree with a lot of what you wrote... However, I don't think the Architect assigned Neo with the Anomaly code... That would go against choice. Rather, Neo, or the systemic anomaly(human rebels) chose their Savior, 'the One'. This goes back to his first meeting with the Oracle, when she says: "Well, what do you think? Do you think you are the One?" Everything Neo does(his powers) are part of his own will, his non-acceptance of the program. 'The One' code or the 'Sum' the architect speaks of are just what the system has "marked" or assigned him with, so they can give him purpose and ultimately recognize and control him. In other words, he chose to be the one, he chose to stop those bullets, he chooses to disobey the systems rules. He chooses his abilities, not the system choosing them for him. I seriously doubt previous Anomalies had this quality. He didn't really become the one until his "next life" or his resurrection.

Not bad chosenone, I also think that the Architect can't choose who is going to be the One, or else he would choose a bastard like Merv and give advantages in exchange of reloading, no ?

But maybe that Mobil_Ave_Neo meant that the Architect can lead the anomaly to enter someone amongst potential people only ?

I think the Architect chooses, because:

1. "Your life is the sum..." instead if "you are the sum...". Also, if you look closely, you can see Neo as a little child on the Architect's monitors.

2. Symbolically the Architect is God. And God put the Snake (Neo) in the otherwise perfect Garden of Eden (Matrix) by himself! So the Architect puts Neo in by himself.

3. Neo accepts the program! Even when Morpheus frees him. He has a function/purpose to furfill, so his existence was planned. His life as a 'loner' was not because he was questioning life so badly. No I think this was because the Architect gave him this life. The program made sure that Neo became a 'loner'.
This is why Neo doesn't love his new role. If he was a true non-accepter, he would be excited to perform his actions; he would be fully inspired. But he is not. The only thing that motivates him is his friendship for Morpheus and his love for Trinity.

Only at the Architect's room Neo decides to truly deny his rational purpose/function and only then he did NOT accept the program.

Also, I think that each human is a variable inside the Matrix. This human is partly a program and this program has a purpose. As you know, a program is never created without a purpose. So I think this purpose was given to Neo at birth.

As only 1% of the people deny the Matrix, the chance that the One will refuse his function is very small. Especially when the weight of humanity is on his shoulders. But this time the Architect had bad luck thanks to the manipulations of the Oracle.

4. It is not rational to wait around untill Neo decides to accept his role of the One. The assingment of the 'One'-variable has to be planned rationally. The equation cannot wait or else it will become too unbalanced and crash.

5. Neo already has his special powers before he ever accepted his role by mind. In the construct (based upon the same program-rules as the Matrix) he already fights faster than any other rebel.

Apocryphe,

The Architect cannot assign 'The One'-function to a non-human program, because:

1. The Matrix is made for the human mind. The brains that participate in the simulation are the variables. The unbalance can only be corrected by a variable that has the same basics: a human brain.

2. A program would be too risky. A program can become too rational and decide not to care if humanity is wiped out. So he will not reload. A human, based upon emotions and true instinct, will in general always decide to rescue humanity.

3. A program will not be inspired/motivated to fight his way back to the Source, because he is not involved with Zion or the freedom of the people.

A little addition to my Smith-theory

When Smith copied himself onto Neo, the true One was a fact: the light and the dark together, positive and negative togehter, the in-between way, a balance!

The neo-smith doesn't say anything. He only nods when the oracle-smith asks him if it's over. It's nothing like Smith to just nod; he would rather say something arrogant.
The situation is that the neo-smith isn't really 'a smith'. He has transformed into the true One.
The neo-smith is not part of the huge collective consiousness of the smiths. This collective consiousness is only aplied to the negative side of the One (as in 'The One versus the -collective- Many'). The neo-smith has gone into the harmony of 'The One' and so he cannot communicate with the other smiths, hence the oracle-smith has to ask him if it's over.

Then the Source (Deus Ex) starts to assimilate Neo in the Real World. I think this is the 'hardware'-way of letting Neo return to the Source. If Neo would have chosen the righthand-door at the Architect, he would have returned to the Source via the 'software'-way. This also corresponds with the path that Neo took. He didn't take the easy/soft path (software), but the hard path (hardware).

The light of the Source 'burns' Neo's entire body and after that It concentrates on his mind, as the white light appears at his head only. This equals assimilation I think. The body only requires a little 'data-processing' because it's structure is based upon DNA. Neo's mind however is a complicated neural-network of information. Not only Neo's memories and personality are stored in there, but also the program Smith.
When the Source is done with assimilating Neo, the true One has returned to the Source and so it is deleted.

After that the Source uses Neo's mind as a portal to the Matrix. The Source sends the code of the true One through the Matrix. As this is now a totally balanced value, equaling zero, Smith cannot exsist as a seperate entity anymore; a negative can never exsist without it's positive!

At this point we see proof that the oracle-smith was using the mental power of all the other smiths. When the fight between Neo and the oracle-smith had started, all the others just observed like mindless pawns. They didn't even laugh, yell or help when Neo was alone in the crater. All their energy was drained by the oracle-smith.

The smiths light up first. A few seconds after that the oracle-smith starts to light up too. It's like if the other smiths are sending the signal straight to the oracle-smith who is the centre of the collective consiousness at that moment. The oracle-smith seems to suffer from the signal, the other smiths just stand still again. But the oracle-smith is the first one to explode after which you directly see a huge white light while all the other smiths are boomed out like a chain reaction. I think this is because the oracle-smith is the centre of the collective consiousness; when he explodes they all go after him!

Only when all the smiths are eliminated, we see that the Source stops using Neo's mind. I think that Neo is totally braindead at that point.

So then we have the code of the true One (which is Neo and Smith melted together) back at the Source, bringing total balance in the equation.

EDIT
I formed a theory about the Oracle too. You can find it by scrolling a few posts down again!

Oh yes I agree, when I said "someone like Merv", I meant an selfish egoist, I was not pointing the fact that he was a program (my mistake here, it was confusing).

I meant that the Architect could easely choose someone who is selfish enough (ex: Cypher) to accept to reload in exchange of happiness inside of the matrix.

We don't know the details about when Neo would have chosen the righthand-door; there would be a lot assuming there.

But I don't think Neo could choose to be re-inserted into the Matrix and forget everything.
I think he would be the leader of the new selected rebels.

Also, there would be a lot of risk when they would choose a guy like Cypher. He might join the Merovingian or something just because he is tired of running around for the Oracle without many results.

Even if Cypher would make it to the Architect's room, then the only reason he would choose the reload is because his own ass is saved. If he denies the Architect, then Zion and Cypher himself are destroyed.

The Architect:

"your 5 predecessors were, by design, based on a similar predication - a contingent affirmation that was meant to create a profound attachment to the rest of your species, facilitating the function of the One"

Neo was chosen and/or programmed because he could be given this affirmation. He is the saviour of the people.

Would you really think that Cypher would get sympathy from councelour Hamann for instance?

The Architect also says 'by design' which indicates that he was involved in the life of the One.

Also remember that the 'summed-up variable' has to be summed up by an external hand. The equation will not do this by itself. The equation will just produce dirt and will crash when it gets unbalanced too much. It is the task of the Architect to put this 'dirt' to some use and sum it up into a variable.

Don't get me wrong, I am not saying that it would be impossible to choose a guy like Cypher. But as you know the machines do not take any risks; they work very rational. So a true saviour is important and not a weirdo like Cypher Smile

Quote:

Good point. Doesn't have to mean anything though. A consiousness can talk to itself sometimes. I do it sometimes out loud. I mean, who doesn't now and then?
The most important issue in that scene is that the 'new' Smith is introduced to the viewer.
It is just a matter of expressing...

It is just like at the burly brawl: "more!". They don't hear him but yet he enpowers his thought by expressing it.
Also in the hallway, they all say: "kill them!". They have the same thought, but they express it in the heat of the anger.
So it is just a matter of thought-expression. I myself sometimes talk inside my head or talk out loud when I am thinking. Smith follows this same pattern I think.

But this discussion aside, it is still clear that the neo-smith is a seperate entity and that he is not connected to the collective consiousness. The neo-smith explodes first as he was a single entity. Only a while after that the other smiths go in a chain of harmony, which depicts the collective consiousness in which they are linked.

Yeah it seems that the last Smith is apart of the rest.

But I still think that Archie can't choose who's going to be the anomaly, he can just narrow the number of potentials.

If he had not choosen Cypher, and that Cypher would have tried to go against him, then he would have cut the deal and cypher would have had the power to kill everyone -himself included - and we know that Cypher is too materialist to do that, he would prefere to reload and enjoy the matrix.

The Oracle

I would love to add my recent theory about the Oracle.

At first I thought that she was just equipped with a database of knowledge about the human psyche combined with a huge calculator. Well in a way, she is that. But I think we have to see that in another light...

I am beginning to think that the Oracle is the prime program of the Matrix.

The Oracle that we see in the movies is just the shell, which she uses in order to communicate with others.

She says in M3 that it is her purpose to unbalance the equation. Well what does a prime program do when it is not perfect yet? It starts to unbalance things!

See seems to know all things! Well at least untill after Neo makes a different choice at the Architect. At that stage the Oracle becomes unsure too, because it is the first time that the One steps to such an unexplored situation.

Also, when Smith takes her over, we see the code whirl around. Why is that? I think because she is connected to the Matrix, she is the heart of the Matrix, she is the prime program of the Matrix that the Architect talks about.
After Smith takes her over, he seems to practically own the Matrix. And when Neo helps out at the end of M3, we see that it is the oracle-smith that spreads the light through the entire Matrix.
Now remember what the Architect said: "The function of the One is now to return to the Source, allowing a temporary dissemination of the code you carry, reinserting the prime program."
Well, after Neo merged with Smith, they returned to the Source. After that Neo's mind was used to spread the light, where the oracle-smith was the centre of this very light.

There is another symbolical link that makes me think that the Oracle IS the centre of the Matrix: she is Mother Nature.
She knows alot and she is the goddess of death and rebirth (she knows in M1 and M2 that people are going to die in the path of the One, yet she lets it happen for a higher purpose). Also think about the fact that Mother Nature is among us, she is part of the earth (the Matrix), she is the centre of nature.
Also, Mother Nature is unbalanced because of us, the humans. With the animals everything was in mathematical harmony, but when the humans came around they unbalanced Nature completely, messing up It's harmony.

Also think back about the Merovingian's wish to own the eyes of the Oracle. To understand Mother Nature is to have the ultimate power, which is what the Merovingian craves.

Now for the Matrix to become perfect, there needs to be a merge between humans and machines.
Now try to think of Neo as the female egg from Mother Nature itself. The Oracle helped Neo to become what he needs to become and he represents the human side formed by the female intuition of the machine-world that the Oracle represents.

The many Smiths represent male sperm-cells that were initially created by the rational male-side of the machine-world: the Architect.

Now when Smith assimilated himself into Neo, the egg has been furtilized and the perfect Matrix is born, with the Architect and the Oracle as It's parents.

Let me know what you guys think about this ok?

Nice theory and it fits to what we saw, but where do Sati and Trinity fit in that ?

I may be wrong, but I believe that Sati is the prime program but I'm not sure yet. Fact is, she and the Oracle survived the reload without any protection (on the contrery of other exiles) and that means that Sati is an important program too.

And she can make a sun rise ! That's not small power after all.

Metaphysics itself is a system of logical interdependencies

I have a few reservations:

1. The one is a sum of remainders. This is a beautiful statement and lends itself to the mechanical definition of the saviour. I interpreted it to also have the connotation of "all of these people pin their hopes on you" which empowers you to do certain things. The willing minds power neo while the unwilling minds are taken over by smith. Smiths is a corrupted power but it is a similar power nonetheless. The power of the mob or the swarm.

I don't believe that smith is a driven agent. I don't believe there is such a thing. I do believe that the system is unstable to begin with, and as echoed by the oracle in reference to the architect "he can't see them, to him they are variables in an equation". Rationality would not have started to behave like smith. Rationality would have remained as it were. Smith constitutes aberrant behaviour. Irrational behaviour. Behaviour consistent with evolutionary processes or mutation.

It is a system that references itself holistically

2. I would not have thought that the Rsi resided in the headplug at all. The "S" would stand for self. Some might argue that if the "self" was resident in a mechanical appendage then the machines would have won already.

Some might say the self would exist inside the body. Perhaps even inside the mind -- where the matrix happens.

3. Detecting Bane and not trinity may be explained by the ability to feel the "spirit" of the machines. Spirit defined loosely as "what animates or brings to life". There is nothing gained in expository of the filmmakers by demonstrating that neo could feel either trinity as he had already known her, nor is it necessary to see the logos all around him as that was just an empty vessel -- so to speak. The vessel of bane however was now inhabited by a newly visible 'spirit'
